🏔🐴 One of our teachers recently completed a 260km pack-saddling adventure on horseback through the Snowy Mountains along Book 11 of Australia’s National Trail.

Battling sleet, frozen water bottles, boggy tracks and horses with plenty of personality, Courtney’s adventure became far more than just a trail ride.

Through resilience, misadventure and a whole lot of problem solving, the experience reinforced the power of outdoor education and the importance of challenge, connection and stepping beyond your comfort zone.

As Courtney reflected:
“The best classroom of all is a mountain trail, frozen fingers, a good horse (or hiking boots) and absolutely no reception.”

We’re excited to share Courtney’s “Tales from the Trail” and the lessons this unforgettable experience has brought back into her teaching practice. 🌿✨

🐎 Did you know Australia is home to one of the longest continuous recreational trails in the world? 🚲

The Australian National Trail stretches over 5,300km from Healesville in Victoria all the way to Cooktown in Far North Queensland. Opened in 1988 as part of Australia’s Bicentenary, the trail was a collaborative effort led by R. M. Williams and the Australian Trail Horse Riders Association, linking together historic stock routes, bush tracks, fire trails and old coach roads along the Great Dividing Range.

Originally created for horse riders, the trail can also be travelled on foot or by bike — with many adventurers covering around 20– 40km a day as they make their way through some of Australia’s most remote and beautiful country.

🐎 This week we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Nikki from Away Awhile: Horse trekking Australia’s longest trail as she passed through Barambah on her journey north.

With Cooktown in her sights for August, we feel incredibly lucky to have been a small part of her journey!

Save travels Nikki - we'll be cheering you on! 🐴

Could your school or community garden use a little extra love… or life? 🌱

Did you know we’d absolutely love to help!

This week, the Barambah crew had the best morning out supporting the students at Coolabunia State School, getting hands in the soil and planting native species grown right here in our nursery.

There’s something pretty special about seeing young people connect with the land, learn new skills, and create spaces that will keep growing well into the future.

If your school or community group would like to host a gardening morning with us, we’d love to be involved!

A big thank you to Beau Miles for his inspiring Q&A and to everyone who contributed such thoughtful questions and energy to the session.
