Where two states meet and history flows beneath your feet ✨

Standing over the Macintyre River in the heart of Goondiwindi, this unassuming bridge isn’t just a crossing, - it’s a story.

Once a bustling gateway for trade between Queensland and New South Wales, where customs duties were collected and journeys began, today it’s a quiet reminder of Australia’s pre-federation past.

Walk it, drive it, or simply pause and take it in—because sometimes the most meaningful destinations aren’t the grandest, but the ones that connect history, place, and people.

"A Wonderful Bird Is The Pelican"

This beloved sculpture graces the Goondiwindi Boat Ramp on Elizabeth Drive, beside the Macintyre River.

Created by local artist Angus Wilson from repurposed scrap metal, it’s inspired by a childhood memory and a poem his mother once recited.

Originally shown at the local show, it now stands proudly on the river levee for everyone to enjoy.

A highlight of Goondiwindi’s public art trail, it brings vibrant character to the riverfront and invites visitors to pause, explore, and connect with the town’s creative spirit.

Make sure to stop by next time you’re in town — it’s a must-see for art lovers and curious travellers alike!
