Ku-ring-gai Library would like to congratulate local resident Alaleh M on winning a prize in the national Big Summer Read competition.

Alaleh is an enthusiastic reader and a regular library user, sharing, “I love books and I love the novel series Wings of Fire."

The Big Summer Read is a nationwide library program that encourages children and young people to keep reading over the summer holidays by logging the books they read or the days they spend reading.

As literacy sits at the heart of the library's mission, we are thrilled to see local children recognised in this national initiative and celebrated for their love of reading.

As the 2026 Heritage Festival draws to a close, Ku-ring-gai Library reflects on one of its highlights: Our Voices, Our Heritage: Ku-ring-gai Migrant Stories.

This special event brought together the Ku-ring-gai community to share personal migration journeys - where they came from, how they arrived, and what shaped their decision to make Australia home. The afternoon offered rich insights and meaningful perspectives, celebrating the diversity of experiences within the local community.

Sincere thanks to the guest speakers for sharing their stories, and to the students from Killara High for their thoughtful interviews and contributions to the event.
