Long Service Corporation - NSW

Long Service Corporation - NSW The Long Service Corporation (LSC) administers portable long service for the building and construction, contract cleaning, and community services industries.

Portable long service leave for workers in the building and construction industry has operated in New South Wales since 1975. The Long Service Corporation (LSC) administers portable long service leave schemes for industries where workers frequently move between employers. Over time, LSC’s role has expanded to support additional industries across the state. LSC currently administers portable long s

ervice leave schemes for workers in:

Building and construction
Contract cleaning (since 1 July 2011)
Community services (since 1 July 2025)

Before the introduction of these schemes, many workers were unable to access long service leave because they did not remain with the same employer for the required period. LSC’s schemes ensure eligible workers can accrue long service leave based on their service to their industry, regardless of changes in employment.

It’s important for TAFE students in the building and construction sector to understand their entitlements.

That's why we've been visiting various TAFE NSW campuses across the state.

The result? More than 50% of students and young workers who didn't know about LSC now do, and more than 75% left with a clearer understanding of what we do.

Next stop: TAFE Ultimo.
