What’s one small thing that can make a really hard day in hospital feel just a little bit easier?

Sometimes it’s simply a warm cuppa ☕

This Dry July, we’re raising funds to support cancer patients across the Central Coast — including a beverage bay in the new cancer inpatient unit at Gosford Hospital.

It might sound simple, but if you’ve ever spent time in hospital — especially during cancer treatment — you’ll know how much comfort a warm cuppa can bring.

Whether it’s a tea to settle the stomach, a coffee for a little lift or just that feeling of normality during a tough time, it makes a difference.

We’re also raising funds for:
• Free art classes and exercise programs for patients
• A wall art installation in the new Wyong Hospital Cancer Day Unit
• Book-swap libraries across our sites

If you can, we’d love your support.

Innovative research is underway at the Central Coast Cancer Centre.

Our team is playing a leading role in a study using artificial intelligence (AI) to track liver tumours in real time while patients receive radiotherapy. The goal is to make treatment more accurate and less invasive while also improving outcomes for people with liver cancer.

Dr Ben Zwan, Lead Research Medical Physicist, pictured here at the Central Coast Cancer Centre, said early results are very promising.

“Current practice involves surgically implanting seeds into the liver to assist with locating the tumour however, this procedure is invasive and can cause side-effects for the patient," said Dr Zwan.

“The AI tool uses X-ray imaging to map the tumour’s location and is then able to track the tumour with a high degree of precision and without the need for any surgical intervention."

The team hopes the technology will one day help guide or even automatically adjust treatment as it happens.

We are proud to be part of research that is shaping the future of cancer treatment.
