Last Wednesday we wrapped up our OzHarvest NEST program. Our amazing ladies completed the 6-week NEST (Nutrition Education Skills Training) program! Well done ladies we are so proud of you all!πŸ’›

The ladies finished strong making some delicious dishes together. The hall was once again filled with incredible smells and even better lots of laughter. 😊

A huge thank you to OzHarvest and our wonderful facilitators and volunteers for guiding us through this journey. The ladies have loved every minute - learning, cooking, sharing and eating together! We are so grateful for this partnership.

To celebrate we're heading to Refettorio OzHarvest Sydney in Surry Hills this week for a special NEST graduation lunch.

πŸ“£ WEEK 9 PBL FOCUS

This week at Granville Public School, our focus is:

Be Safe – Walking on Hard Surfaces

Students are learning that Being Safe means using **Wonderful Walking** whenever we move around the school, especially on hard surfaces.

You may have noticed some new signs and markings around our school. These are reminders to help students make safe choices and move safely between classrooms, playgrounds and learning spaces.

We are teaching students that:
β€’ Hard surfaces include footpaths, concrete, asphalt, ramps and covered walkways
β€’ Walking on hard surfaces helps prevent accidents and injuries
β€’ Walking helps keep ourselves and others safe
β€’ We should always use Wonderful Walking when moving around the school

Wonderful Walking means:
β€’ Hands by your side
β€’ Looking forward
β€’ Moving quietly
β€’ Walking directly to where you need to go

A key message this week is:

πŸ‘‰ There is a time to walk and a time to run.

Students are learning that:
β€’ We WALK on paths, concrete, asphalt and around buildings
β€’ We RUN on grass play areas, during sport, PE and teacher-directed games

Running isn't banned β€” it just belongs in the Right Place which is our grass area.

Throughout the week, teachers will be reminding students to:
β€’ Walk on hard surfaces
β€’ Follow instructions the first time
β€’ Keep themselves and others safe
β€’ Be in the Right Place at the Right Time

πŸ’¬ HOW FAMILIES CAN HELP

Talk to your child about making safe choices when moving around school and the importance of walking on hard surfaces. Ask them to explain what Wonderful Walking looks like.

Last Friday, despite the chilly weather, our Supported Playgroup families enjoyed a wonderful morning together! The children had fun exploring free play activities, getting creative with arts and crafts and finishing the session with story time and songs.

It’s always lovely to welcome both new and familiar faces each week. A big thank you to Rohia and Friba from Boronia Multicultural Services for their ongoing support and dedication.

Supported Playgroup runs every Friday during the school term in the Community Hub from 9:15am–11:00am. We look forward to seeing you there! 😊
