Yacoub kicks the match-winner in an unforgettable grand final! 🏉🏆

Our senior boys played in the grand final of the Stephen Coniglio Cup on Thursday 3 September. The Stephen Coniglio Cup is a Western Sydney school-based AFL competition organised by the GWS Giants and AFLNSWACT. 👏

This year, we faced Sir Joseph Banks High School in the grand final. At half-time, our boys held a comfortable 20-1 lead, but by full-time the scores were level at 21-21. 😅

The match went into 10 minutes of extra time, with neither team able to break the deadlock. Then, with just seconds remaining and the scores still tied, Yacoub kicked an incredible match-winning goal from halfway to secure the championship. 🤩

It was one of the best AFL matches we've played, and both teams were truly deserving of the win. 🙌

A great reward for quick thinking! 🧠🏉

Our Year 7 students were challenged to solve the equation shown in the photo, with a family pass to tomorrow night’s Bulldogs vs Broncos match up for grabs.

Congratulations to Taha, who was the first to correctly work out that x = -¼ and has won a night at the football with his family. 👏

Well done, Taha, on demonstrating confidence, persistence and strong mathematical thinking. ⭐️

Last week we celebrated Book Week through two activities: Dress Up Day and Bookmark Competition. 📚

Students and staff showcased their creativity at Wednesday’s assembly, dressing up as their favourite book characters, while the winners of our bookmark competition were announced. 🎤

We played a great game in the final match of the City Cup at St Mary’s against St Edward’s College, Gosford. 🏈

Both teams started strongly, with St Edward’s taking an early lead and holding it until the end. Granville Boys played with passion and heart and tried their best to get back into the game in the second half. 🙌

The final score was 36-16. Congratulations to St Edward’s, and a big congratulations to our boys for their effort and dedication on and off the field. 🎉 We couldn’t be prouder. 👏⭐️

They were in full swing last night at Year 11 Subject Selection Night, assisting our boys and their parents in the School Hall until 6:30 pm. 🕡
