NOTIFICATION OF A PLANNED BURN: Sycamore Reserve, 4111 - 4149 Mount Lindesay highway PARK RIDGE SOUTH QLD 4125 – TUESDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER 2026.



Logan City Council’s Natural Areas - Operations Team will be conducting a planned burn within Sycamore Reserve on Tuesday 1st September 2026, weather permitting, as part of our Annual Planned Burn Program. The size of this burn will be approximately 3.4 hectares within Sycamore Reserve.



The approximate extent of the burn site is indicated in blue on the map image:

All land management agencies in Queensland have an obligation to mitigate the risk of fire entering or leaving land it owns or manages. Logan City Council achieves this through the implementation of its Fire Management Program which includes the construction & maintenance of firebreaks, fuel reduction works and the undertaking of planned burns.

Logan City Council’s Planned Burn Program intends to strategically reduce the bushfire hazard in selected areas of parks and reserves throughout the city. The aim of these burns is to reduce levels of bushfire fuel within our Parks and rejuvenate native vegetation. This will assist with reducing the intensity of any subsequent bushfires and provide favourable conditions for regeneration of native vegetation.

During these important operational activities, smoke may be seen in the vicinity of Park Ridge South on Wednesday. It is appreciated that this planned burn may cause some inconvenience to local residents, however all attempts will be made to limit the effect of these works on the community.

Logan Council will be onsite for the duration of operations until the burn is contained, with staff returning to site the following day to ensure the site remains secure following the planned burn.

Properties adjoining the site of the burn have received a notification letter as per the requirements in the Permit to Light. The letter also includes an option for residents to download the Early Warning Network app for updates on the timing of the burn or notifications prior to the day of the burn.

On behalf of the Greenbank Rural Fire Brigade and its members, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to IGA Greenbank for the wonderful support you have provided to our station over many years.

Your commitment to the local community, outstanding customer service, and generous support of our firefighters has always been greatly appreciated. IGA Greenbank has been more than just a local business; it has been a valued community partner.

AVOID SMOKE (HAZARD REDUCTION BURN) - Greenbank (near Springfield) - fire as at 9:05am Wednesday, 12 August 2026

Warning level: ADVICE

Warning area: Greenbank, Springfield Lakes, New Beith, Boronia Heights, Browns Plains, Drewvale and surrounding areas

Thick smoke is affecting Greenbank, Springfield Lakes, New Beith, Boronia Heights, Browns Plains, Drewvale and surrounding areas. This is from LRM Fire and Rescue hazard reduction burning near Goodna Road, Greenbank.

Smoke could be in the area for days. Protect yourself from the impacts of smoke.

What you should do:

- If the smoke is thick where you are, stay inside and close windows and doors.
- If you need medication to help you breathe keep it close.
- If you are worried about your health call your doctor or 13 HEALTH (13 432 584). If it is an emergency, call Triple Zero (000) now.
- If you are affected by the smoke you may need to leave the area.
- Do not fly drones around the fire as they affect firefighting.

Impacts:

- Smoke could make it hard for some people to breathe and can cause health issues.
- Some roads may be closed or impacted by smoke. It could be hard to see. You may need to drive a different way.

Ipswich City Council advice regarding proposed Planned Burn.

Please be advised that at proposed hazard reduction burns at White Rock Spring Mountain Conservation Estate, Springfield. We will be burning block WR_18 shown on the attached map. This block is approximately 45 hectares (WR_18) in size.
The southeast section of 20 ha was burnt last week on Thursday, with all going very well.

The northwest section of WR18, approximately 25 ha, is planned for ignition tomorrow morning Tuesday 4th August between 10:00-11:00am.

Block WR_16 to the west is anticipated to also follow this week, with Wednesday 5th August favoured for a late morning ignition at this stage. This block is approximately 70 ha in size.
Watch for further updates regarding any changes for this burn.

The surrounding neighbours have been notified with a mailout earlier this year of this possible burn window and also via a letterbox drop conducted by myself this week.

Fireland Consultancy are the councils current Planned Burn Contractors and they will be conducting the burn on behalf of ICC

These Springfield Interface Zones will be closed to the public at this stage, including the Frilled Neck Lizard Walking Track and the Ironbark Trail. The eastern section of the Yaddamun Trail from Grech Park to just west of Peter Tullet Park will also be closed for public access from tomorrow.
The day use area at Paperbark Flats and the White Rock walking trails will remain open at this stage.

During these important operational activities, smoke may be seen in the vicinity of Springfield and Greenbank on Tuesday and subsequent days. It is appreciated that this planned burn may cause some inconvenience to local residents, however all attempts will be made to limit the effect of these works on the community.

Greenbank QLD 4124 - extended to Friday 24 July, 2026.

A subcontractor to Defence (LRM) are proposing to conduct planned hazard mitigation burns at Greenbank Training Area in three separate areas for the Department of Defence on Thursday 16 - Friday 17 July, 2026, pending site and weather conditions.

During these important operational activities, smoke may be seen in the vicinity of Greenbank and surrounding areas on has now been extended from Friday 17th to Friday 24th July.

It is appreciated that this planned burn may cause some inconvenience to local residents, however all attempts will be made to limit the effect of these works on the community.

Burning will commence at 0900 am on Friday and should conclude at 1600 pm on Friday
