We welcome and encourage our community to participate in Council’s social media channels. We also expect those participating in discussion to behave in a respectful manner both towards other participants, and Council, to ensure our pages are a safe place for people to express their views, ask questions or seek out information. Nillumbik Shire Council

reserves the right to moderate and delete comments that are:

• knowingly false, factually inaccurate, or mischievous complaints/statements
• misleading, obscene, off-topic, sexist, racist, discriminatory in nature or spam
• overly promotional or commercial in nature
• unlawful or incite others to break the law
• posts that include links to closed groups or communities
• defamatory comments or harassing of our employees, volunteers or the participants in our channels
• information that may compromise the safety or security of the public –
• repetitive posts copied and pasted or duplicated by single or multiple users
• any other inappropriate content or comments as determined by Nillumbik Shire Council.
• Account suspensions are at the sole discretion of Nillumbik Shire Council.
• Any person actively using these sites is implicitly agreeing to these rules regardless of whether they have been read or not. We also reserve the right to block users who repeatedly breach the above guidelines. If the breach is considered to be serious, Nillumbik Shire Council may choose to blocks users immediately. 🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️🚗 Through the Safe Local Roads and Streets Program, we're delivering targeted road safety improvements this month in high-use residential areas, including streets near schools, community facilities and key local connections.

Funded by the Department of Transport and Planning and Transport Accident Commission (TAC) in partnership with Council, these works have been identified via community feedback, traffic data and identified speeding risks.
🚧 Moola Place, Eltham – three flat-top road humps installed, with centreline marking.
🚧 Diamond Street, Diamond Creek – new street lighting installed and operational, with a raised zebra crossing
🚧 Mackelroy Road & Treetop Terrace, Plenty – three traffic islands and a raised threshold
🚧 Parry Road, Eltham North – one flat-top road hump and two traffic islands.

These treatments are designed to slow traffic, improve pedestrian safety and create safer local streets.

🚧 Your reports help us identify issues on local roads and prioritise maintenance works across the Shire.

Our crews look after more than 500km of Council-managed roads across Nillumbik, carrying out repairs to road surfaces and potholes, maintaining and replacing road signs, and refreshing line marking.

Over the past 12 months, we've responded to more than 500 pothole and road surface maintenance requests, 750 sign maintenance and replacement jobs, and completed around 400 line marking maintenance works.

👏 Congrats to Charli and Jacob, our latest recipients of the Nillumbik Sports, Arts and Creative Achievement Grant.

Charli received funding after being selected to represent Australia at the World Pipe Band Championships in Scotland. 🎶✈️

Jacob received funding after being selected to represent Victoria in football at the U14 Australia Championships. 🏉🦘

Each received a $200 grant to help support their journey and pursue their passion at the highest level. We wish Charli and Jacob every success as they represent their community on the state, national and international stage. 🌟

🏆 Finals season is in full swing across Nillumbik.

From soccer and lacrosse to the juniors and seniors footy finals kicking off, let’s cheer on all the locals currently chasing the big win.

Nillumbik has the second highest community sport participation rate in the state and that doesn’t happen without the volunteers, coaches and committees. Thank you for all the hard work that helps create great clubs and strong, connected communities.

Council supports community sport across the Shire by maintaining our ovals, pitches, and pavilions, making sure facilities are clean, safe and ready for play, and providing opportunities for professional development and training.

🚴🚶Imagine cycling, walking or scooting all the way from the Plenty River Trail to the Diamond Creek Trail on a connected and continuous off-road path.

That's the vision for the missing section of the Maroondah Aqueduct Trail.

We're seeking a $9 million State Election commitment to plan and construct this important link, improving safety and creating stronger connections for walkers, riders, families and our community.
