🔥 Get Ready for the Bush Fire Danger Period🔥

With the Bush Fire Danger Period starting on 1st OCTOBER 2026 it’s important to prepare your property and use your bush fire survival plan in place.

Up until the 1st October burn notifications are still required.

Before the bush fire season:

🏠 Prepare your property. A well prepared home is far more likely to survive a bush fire.

✅Trim overhanging trees and shrubs

✅ Mow grass and remove cuttings

✅ Remove material that can be burnt around your home

✅ Clear leaves and debris from gutters

✅ Prepare a sturdy hose or hoses

🔥 If planning a burn on your property ensure safe burning by following the required guidelines and notifications.

🟡 HIGH Fire Danger Rating - Saturday 5 September 2026 🟡

Due to unseasonably warm and windy conditions today, we have a Fire Danger Rating of HIGH in the Gresford area.

🔥Landholders are urged to:
• Postpone all planned pile burning until conditions ease.
• Regularly check any pile burns conducted in recent weeks.
• Ensure burnt piles are completely extinguished, including checking for heat or smouldering material beneath the surface.
• Continue monitoring old burn sites while strong winds persist.

If you see an unattended or escaped fire, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

🚫 Don’t be the fire risk to your community.

It’s time again, for Get Ready Weekend on 10th October, 2026.

Meet your local Gresford Rural Fire Brigade and Eccleston RFS brigades at the opening of the Gresford Community Market on Saturday, 10th October 2026 from 9am to 1pm.

Come and say hi, check out the new truck, we'll have some fun activities setup for the little (and big) kids, and have a chat about what you need to do to prepare your home and family for the bush fire season.

If you're local to Gresford, we're always on the lookout for new members to volunteer and help protect our wonderful community.

🔥 𝗦𝗺𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 – 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳𝗳 🔥

Our crews responded to multiple callouts yesterday following reports of smoke.

Upon arrival it was discovered the smoke was from landholders carrying out burning in preparation for the upcoming bush fire season.

While permits are not currently required, there are still important 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝟭 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿.

✅ You must 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝗮 ‘𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻’ 𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟰 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴

✅ Make sure your burn is 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

Taking these steps helps prevent unnecessary callouts.

🔥 PLANNED HAZARD REDUCTION BURN – CHADS CREEK ROAD AREA 🔥

Residents in and around Chads Creek Road, Halton area are advised that Eccleston Brigade and Gresford Rural Fire Brigade will be conducting a Hazard Reduction (HR) burn tomorrow.

Smoke may be visible in the area throughout the day. Please don’t be alarmed if you see smoke or fire activity — this is a planned operation.

Our crews will be working to reduce fuel loads and help protect the community in preparation for the upcoming bushfire season.
