CWA of NSW - Griffith Branch

CWA of NSW - Griffith Branch The CWA of NSW Griffith Branch is a voluntary non profit organisation providing a platform and forum for all women within the Griffith City Council area.

We meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6.30pm in our rooms at 129 Banna Avenue. GRIFFITH BRANCH:
Members are dedicated to improving conditions and the welfare of rural women and their families. members are actively involved in Agriculture & Environment, Cultural, International, Land Cookery and Handcrafts at branch, group and state level. The Country Women's Association is non-sectarian and

non-party-political; and Griffith Branch welcomes members of all ages. THE COUNTRY WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION OF NSW:
The CWA of NSW was formed in 1922 when country women were fighting isolation and a lack of health facilities. Within the first year, the Association was a unified, resourceful group that was going from strength to strength. The members worked tirelessly to set up baby health care centres, fund bush nurses, build and staff maternity wards, hospitals, schools, rest homes, seaside and mountain holiday cottages - and much more. The women of the CWA have been initiators, fighters and lobbyists. They have made localities into communities by providing social activities and educational, recreational and medical facilities. The aims of the CWA of NSW are:
(a) To bring all women and families together and form a network of support. (b) To provide a forum for the voice of all women in New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory. (c) To improve conditions and welfare of all women and families especially in country areas. (d) To support schemes which enhance the value of country living, especially health and educational facilities. (e) To encourage development in regional areas and to increase the viability of rural communities and the environment. (f) To provide a voice to Government at all levels. (g) To promote International goodwill friendship understanding and tolerance between all people.

We've launched our Backing the Bush campaign today at the National Bush Summit, calling on all political parties to commit to practical action that will strengthen regional, rural and remote communities ahead of the March 2027 NSW election.

"The people who live, work and raise families in the bush deserve access to the same opportunities, essential services and quality of life as anyone else in New South Wales," State President, Tanya Jolly said.

Over the past two days, the Country Women's Association of NSW joined Lock the Gate Alliance, Gomeroi representatives, Unions NSW and NSW Farmers for a series of meetings and advocacy events at NSW Parliament.

Together, we called for genuine community consultation in the NSW Government’s review of its Future of Gas Statement and reaffirmed our opposition to the Narrabri Gas Project because of its unacceptable risks to groundwater, farmland and regional communities.

The people who will live with these decisions deserve a real seat at the table. The CWA of NSW will always be a strong voice for our members and will continue working alongside and supporting like-minded organisations to protect regional communities, their land, water and future.
