Thursday night training : “making the dream work”
Last night crews took on the obstacle course where team work makes the dream work.
Using precise communication, teamwork and problem solving, crews were required to work throughout an obstacle course carrying a makeshift stretcher whilst maintaining the “patients” balance.
The night was finished off with a game of “bowls” helping to fine tune our hose techniques and add a little competition to the mix.

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend and assist.

If you have ever thought about joining or interested in what we do, please come down and have a chat from 6pm Thursdays at Hanwood station on Oaks rd or simply message our page and we will be in touch. For general inquiries jump onto www.rfs.nsw.gov.au and follow the prompts.

Thursday night training. “Blues Clues”.

Crews were tasked to identify multiple locations using grid references and multiple mapping platforms in order to find clues hidden around the district.
Using great team work and ingenuity crews successfully identified all locations and had a bit of fun along the way.

Happy International Women’s Day 2026
Strong women
May we know them.
May we raise them.
May we be them.
And may we ensure they are respected, always.

International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate the remarkable achievements of women worldwide, and especially those amazing women in our brigade.

DID YOU KNOW!!! Hanwood Brigade has 9 female members with growing interest for female membership! This Amazing!!

” is the official theme for International Women’s Day (IWD) 2026, calling attention to the urgent global need for fair, inclusive, and accessible justice for all women and girls. Globally, one in three women will experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime, yet most will never seek formal support or access justice. Despite meaningful progress over recent decades, significant barriers remain.

The campaign also reinforces and recognises the power of positive change when individuals, organisations, and communities give their support, opportunities for women grow.
When women thrive, our teams, organisations, and communities become stronger.

To the women in our organisation and particularly our brigade and district: thank you for the diverse perspectives you bring to our space every day. We each have a role in accelerating action, by challenging bias, backing inclusive leadership, and ensuring respect is non‑negotiable.

What will you do to balance the scales?

🚒Training👨‍🚒
Last night Hanwood Brigade came together for our weekly training. This weeks focus was on skills in casualty handling, to ensure we can keep safety as our number one priority.

We often assist other agencies such as Fire Rescue NSW, NSW Ambulance, the State Emergency Service and even the Volunteer Rescue Association. Focusing on skills like casualty handling ensures when we are called to assist other Emergency services we can play our role.

If you have ever wanted to join, or would like more information, please send us a message and one of our admins will be in touch as soon as possible.
