There’s more history in a gin and tonic than most realise.

Long before it became a favourite afternoon pour, tonic water was valued for quinine — used in tropical regions for its medicinal properties. Gin was added to soften the bitterness, and over time a simple mix became a drink shared by servicemen, travellers and friends around the world.

When the weather starts to cool, it’s the perfect time to reach for something with a little more depth and spice.

Our Three Cuts Pinot Barrel Rested Gin gives a classic Negroni a richer, more warming edge, with subtle barrel influence, layered spice and that beautiful bittersweet finish we all love.

Negroni
30ml Three Cuts Pinot Barrel Rested Gin
30ml Campari
30ml Sweet Vermouth

Add a large ice cube to a double rocks glass. Cut a disc of fresh orange peel and squeeze the zest oils into the glass. Run the peel around the rim and add it to the glass. Pour in the remaining ingredients and stir for 10–15 seconds.

A beautiful cooler-weather serve, and one well worth making at home.
