"SOME PATIENTS DON'T WANT TO KNOW."

I was part of an ABC interview panel with some pretty amazing people. The topic was the end of life. Everyone approaches their mortality differently and palliative care doctors accommodate those differences.

Father’s Day can bring up many different emotions. For some it’s a day of love and celebration, and for others it can be a tender reminder of what is missing, or what never was.

Wherever this day meets you, may you feel seen, supported, and may your day be gentle.

What is Psychosocial Support and the Role of Social Workers in Psychosocial Support?

Social workers are trained professionals who play a crucial role in delivering psychosocial support. They assist individuals and families in various ways:

Functions of Social Workers
Assessment: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of clients' psychosocial needs.
Counseling: Provide emotional support and therapeutic interventions for mental health issues.
Advocacy: Empower clients to access necessary services and resources.
Coordination: Facilitate communication between clients and healthcare providers, ensuring a holistic approach to care.
Education: Offer information on coping strategies and community resources.
Areas of Focus
Crisis Intervention: Help clients manage immediate emotional distress.
Family Support: Assist families in creating stable environments for children.
Community Integration: Connect clients with existing community support systems, such as schools and health services.
Social workers are essential in ensuring that psychosocial support is integrated into broader health and social services, enhancing the overall well-being of individuals and communities.

In addition to my End-of-Life Consultant services, I also offer psychosocial support—a time-limited, hourly service designed to help individuals and families navigate life’s challenges, whether related to end-of-life matters or living with a psychosocial disability. ✨ A little bit about me ✨

I’m Sally, and I’ve spent much of my life supporting people through some of their hardest seasons. With a background in social work, counselling, and community support, I’ve walked alongside individuals and families facing mental health struggles, grief, caregiving, and end-of-life journeys.

What I’m most passionate about is holding space—being that safe, steady presence when people feel unheard, overwhelmed, or unsure of what comes next. I believe our stories matter, and it’s a privilege to help others create, share, and complete theirs with dignity and compassion.

Away from my work, I’m a very proud Mum and Grandma. I am married to Neil, and together we’ve raised a blended family grounded in love, culture, and connection.

🌳 My Story 🌳

For as long as I can remember, I have felt a deep connection to trees. Their branches reach outward in strength, their roots anchor them deeply to the earth, and their leaves remind us of the natural cycles of life.

Trees have taught me that even in death, life goes on. As one season ends, another begins—reminding us of renewal, continuity, and the beauty of transition.

This belief is at the heart of my work as an End-of-Life Consultant and Counsellor. Just as trees stand tall through the changing seasons, I walk alongside individuals and families during one of life’s most tender seasons—providing emotional, physical, and spiritual support.

For me, trees are not only symbols of growth and resilience but also of legacy and love—reminders that our stories continue, even after we are gone.
