Just because you can...doesn't mean you should. πŸ”₯

The Fire Danger Season in the Mount Lofty Ranges ends April 30.

But warm weather, northerly winds and a high fire danger are forecast for Friday May 1.

Your burn pile can wait...especially with cooler, wetter weather expected in the coming days.

If you see an unattended fire, please call 000 ☎️

No more petrol crisis - we're switching to horse-power! 🐎

In order to combat the insane diesel prices and availability issues, Hahndorf CFS has acquired four Clydesdale horses to pull our Pumper to emergencies.

The horses - named Cinder, Ember, Blaze and Ash - will live in newly-built stables at Hahndorf Station, with feed donated by local farmers.

The horses are also expected to generate a revenue stream for the Brigade - tourists to Hahndorf can get a photo with the Clydesdales for $5. We'll also be selling bags of horse manure for $3.

The horses will be wearing high vis harnesses, and we are looking into mounting flashing lights on their heads.

Please give us a wave when you see us around town! πŸ‘‹

🚨 A TOTAL FIRE BAN has been declared for tomorrow 31 March 2026 in the Mount Lofty Ranges - Extreme.

Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted. The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow. The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan.

Fire Danger Ratings
Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Extreme, only well prepared, well constructed and actively defended houses are likely to offer safety during a fire.

What should you do
β€’ If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option.
β€’ In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions.
β€’ Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight.
β€’ Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions.

The funds raised by our friends at St Paul's Lutheran Church Hahndorf will help us to continue supporting our town during emergencies.

And we'll be at St Paul's this Saturday from 8am for all your democracy sausage needs! 🌭

Tonight's a chance to catch our breath after a busy week down at the Deep Creek fire, and we thought you might like to see what we've been up to... πŸ“·

From asset protection through to backburning operations, Hahndorf firefighters have filled various shifts over the past seven days working with Brigades from the Heysen Group, and others from across the state and country.

It's an absolute honour to help out. A special thanks must go to our loved ones who wave us goodbye each shift and carry the burden at home. Thank you! πŸ™
