Anlaby is well positioned within the Kapunda, Barossa Valley and Clare Tourism Regions to make it your base to tour these exciting areas. Tours of the Anlaby House and Garden are available for groups of 10 or more [by prior appointment]. These tours include the principal rooms of the house including the servants work rooms, kitchen, scullery and butler’s pantry. At the end of the house tour you wi

ll have a strong sense of how the family and servants lived and worked there. With approximately 10 acres of garden a guided walk through these historically listed gardens typically includes the shade house, glass house, walled vegetable garden, rose gardens and terraced lawns. The original carriageway winds past the front of the house and down to the peacock aviary. The garden is indeed a restoration work in progress and not all in pristine condition. The garden is of the old fashioned “English style” yet located in a dry South Australian climate and this creates challenges…. The House and Garden Tours indeed take you on an historic journey through a step back in time! Lunch or Morning/Afternoon Tea can be provided for your Tour Group – please check the “Tours” page for further information. Anlaby Station has become a popular location for Weddings and Functions. Indeed, Anlaby is a very special and unique place. From the grandest occasion to the most intimate – whatever the event - with Anlaby as the venue will ensure it is memorable. Anlaby is the home of the oldest Merino Stud in South Australia and when visiting Anlaby Station you are bound to see some of our merino sheep as they graze in the open plains or perhaps the wooded areas. Treat yourself to an Anlaby Throw Blanket – Our Anlaby Throw is the first of our merino wool product range woven exclusively from wool shorn from the Anlaby flock and is provided with a numbered certificate of authenticity. These are available through our Online Shop. To completely immerse yourself in the tranquility and beauty of Anlaby, and absorb the history of your surroundings, why not stay awhile in the Manor House andwander through the gardens at your leisure. Staying in the Manor House, a two story building that was once the Manager’s and Accountant’s Offices and has been converted into self contained Bed and Breakfast accommodation offers three bedrooms upstairs, with a kitchen, bathroom and very comfortable sitting room downstairs. A unique Bed and Breakfast experience indeed. With new Restoration Projects planned and in the process of happening all the time there is always something new to discover at Anlaby whether it is your first visit or one of many. Located near Kapunda in South Australia, but in close proximity to both the famous Barossa Valley and Clare Valley regions, Anlaby is well worth a visit!

A rainbow over Anlaby feels like a pretty good way to welcome the rain.

The gardens have had a drink, the gravel is shining, and everything has that fresh winter green coming through.
But no one on the land gets too smug after one decent fall. We will always take more rain. Always.

For now though, it is a beautiful time to visit. Come for a house and garden tour, or stay a little longer in the cottages and see Anlaby after the rain, when the whole place feels newly washed and quietly alive.

Tours and accommodation bookings are open.

There is a point in the drive to Anlaby where everything starts to soften a little.

The road opens up. The noise drops away. The phone feels less important. The weekend starts to feel like it might actually do what a weekend is meant to do.

Our cottages are tucked within one of South Australia’s great heritage properties, surrounded by old buildings, gardens, paddocks and all the quiet little details that make Anlaby feel so different from a normal night away.

Check-in is from 2 pm, which gives you time to arrive on time. Put the bags down. Make a cup of tea. Walk through the gardens. Sit for a while. Head into the Barossa or Clare, or don’t. There is no rush here.

Just over an hour from Adelaide, Anlaby is close enough for a simple weekend away, but far enough to feel like you have stepped out of the usual.

Book direct and stay a little longer.

Golden hour (or bank manager hour), doing what golden hour does best, making a barley crop look like it belongs in a painting.

But this paddock is doing more than looking pretty.
The barley goes in, the sheep go on it early while it is fresh and green, then they come off so the crop can keep growing. Later it gets reaped and either goes back into feeding the sheep or gets sold.

Grow it. Graze it. Harvest it. Feed it back through the system.

That's sustainable farming.

Thank you Greater SA.

Thank you Greater SA.

Turns out the Barossa does a lot more than pour good wine.

Behind the weddings, festivals and big events is a huge mix of local businesses making the magic happen, and the Barossa Event Industry Awards have put the spotlight on them.

Anlaby is not a blank canvas wedding venue.

Thank goodness.

There is already a feeling here.

The gates. The gardens. The old stone. The house sitting quietly in the middle of it all. The kind of place where people do not just arrive for a ceremony, they arrive and feel like something is beginning.

That is the point.

You do not have to dress Anlaby into something. You work with what is already here.

A garden ceremony. Champagne on the lawn. Family gathering under the trees. Friends finding their way through the gardens. Photographs that feel like they belong to you, not the last ten weddings saved on Instagram.

Because a wedding is not just the styling. It is the coming together.

The people who have travelled. The ones who raised you. The ones who have watched the story unfold. The ones standing beside you as the next part begins.

Anlaby gives all of that somewhere beautiful to land.

For couples who want a wedding with beauty, depth, and a little old-world drama, this is a very special place to gather.

Wedding enquiries are welcome.

We are thrilled to be taking home the industry award for Best Annual Event.
Our Spring Festival has been running for 11 years and it wouldn't be possible without the support from family and friends, staff, suppliers and everyone who attends.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

It is the story of how this place came to be.

You see the grand rooms, yes. The gardens, the old trees, the views, the details. But you also hear about the work behind it all. The wool. The station. The people. The decisions. The Connections. The way a working property slowly became one of South Australia’s most remarkable heritage homes.

That is the part people often don’t expect.

Anlaby is beautiful, but it is not just decoration. It was built from wool, shaped by generations and still sits at the heart of a working merino stud today.

Our guided House and Garden Tours run on Wednesdays and Sundays and include Devonshire tea.

If you have driven past the gates and always wondered what sits beyond them, this is your invitation to come in.

If Mother’s Day has arrived faster than expected, an Anlaby voucher leaves the experience beautifully open.

A thoughtfully curated Anlaby experience package: a stay in one of our historic cottages, a house and garden tour through one of South Australia’s great rural estates, a wine and cheese plate waiting on arrival, and dinner with our famous Anlaby pies.

Or something more layered.

Because you’re not choosing a fixed experience. You’re creating one around what she’ll actually love.

Something slower. Thoughtful. Personal.

A gift that feels less like ticking a box, and more like giving her time to enjoy properly.

Call Andrew to arrange your voucher on 0438 933 224.

Mother’s Day is nearly here.

If you’re still considering how to spend the day, Anlaby offers something a little different.

A few beautifully considered hours exploring one of South Australia’s great rural houses of the Edwardian era, wandering through the gardens, and settling in for high tea in the Pavilion.

From the grandeur of the principal rooms to the quieter spaces behind the scenes that kept the estate running, this is more than simply high tea. It’s an opportunity to experience a place shaped by generations of connection, history and story.

For those wishing to make the occasion even more special, French champagne can be waiting on arrival.

Just beyond the Barossa, and only an hour from Adelaide, Mother’s Day at Anlaby feels a world away from the usual.
