How to get there
White Range is a 1½ hours drive east of Alice Springs. Take the Ross Highway (sealed) for 75km east of Alice Springs, then turn left onto the unsealed Arltunga Tourist Road (also known as Binns Track). After 33km you pass the Arltunga Hotel / Arltunga Pub (closed) on the left. Keep straight on the Binns Track for another 3km and take the Ruby Gap turn-off at the old windmill. Con

Facilities
Once you have reached White Range Gold Mine, report to the caretaker. Shady bush sites cater for motor - homes, caravans, tents and trailers. Bring your own supplies and water (limited drinking water). Pets welcome! BBQ facilities are available. What to do
Fossicking: You do not need a permit in our area, since we will give you permission. Tools that you can use include a shovel, sieve, pan, shaker, and/or metal detector. Always take drinking water with you
Photography: Historical sites, even a cemetery, landscape, wildlife (rock wallabies, kangaroos, echidnas, lizard’s brumbies, camels, donkeys, and the occasional dingo). Walking: Around the camping area you find several options for walking. Temperatures can be extreme in the summer months. When walking carry and drink plenty of water. A trip to Ruby Gap Nature Park, to the Arltunga Historical Reserve, where a full history on Arltunga is provided (Arltunga was the first town, up till 300 people, in Central Australia established in a Gold Rush
just after the Telegraph line) or Old Ambalindum Homestead (a working cattle station) are just a few options you have. On the way back to Alice Springs don’t forget to stop at Trephina Gorge (bush-camping), Corroboree Rock, Jessie and Emily Gap. Alternatively you can return via the northern loop of the Arltunga Tourist Drive and visit Harts Range or Gemtree on the Plenty Highway for gemstone fossicking. For Information
