Harvey Leos-Club

Harvey Leos-Club We are young people focussed on making the world a better place. WHAT IS THE LEOS CLUB? The Harvey LEOs Club is the youth division of the Harvey Lions Club.

WHO CAN JOIN? Young people aged between 13 and 25 are very welcome to join. WHEN ARE THE MEETINGS? We meet every second Friday at the Lions Den (also known as the CWA Hall) in Snells Park Harvey between 6.30pm and 8.30pm. WHAT DOES IT COST TO JOIN? There is no cost to join LEOs - membership is free (not often you see that these days eh?)

WHAT DO THE MEETINGS COST? We don't charge you anything

to come to a meeting but we do ask that you cover your own expenses. For example: meal costs, admission costs on special outings etc. WHAT HAPPENS AT THE MEETINGS? Most meetings follow the same format, we are flexible on times though.
6.30pm to 7pm - we all go down to get dinner (take-a-way) and bring it back to the Lions Den. 7pm to 7.30pm - we all chat about various projects we're doing or discuss fundraising ideas or ways that we can help the community. 7.30pm to 8.30pm - fun fun fun!! We play games such as group pictionary, charades, trivia quizzes and other crazy stuff. Sometimes we organise to go out for social stuff like ten pin bowling, movie nights, camps etc but we give lots of notice for these. WHO RUNS THE MEETINGS? The Harvey LEOs Club has a President, a Secretary and a Treasurer. The President runs the meeting (serious) part of the night and then we take turns at doing the fun stuff. There is also a LEO Advisor present and this person is the Harvey Lion responsible for the overseeing of the club and ensuring we all keep safe. WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS DO WE DO? We have done all kinds of things. We help the Harvey Lions a lot with their train and BBQing. We also help people who are elderly to maintain their garden or do odd jobs. We organise events like raves etc and donate the money to a charity of our choice. We also have a great relationship with the Binningup Lions Club and we help them with their annual Christmas Sleigh project which is heaps of fun. If you have ideas for projects we'd love to hear them. There are LEOs Clubs all around the world so if you'd lke to know more you ca visit this site. http://lionsclubs.org.au/activities/youth/leos/

You may have noticed that we've been a bit quiet lately ... well that's due to lots of things - we've had 4 Leos become Lions (YAY!), we've got Leos undergoing exams (Bleh!) and others are now working and diving into life (Applauding wildly!). BUT ... *drumroll* Harvey LEOs is coming BACK! We're planning a pizza night and anyone aged between 12 and 18 who is keen to be a LEO is invited. Watch this space!

We've seen a lot of changes lately. We've had four LEOs become Lions which is really cool and we've lost a few more through moving and other commitments. So, we're taking a break for a short time and will be re-vamping, re-invigorating and re-launching the LEOs - aka 'Team Awesome' in late July. If you are interested in being a part of the team, drop us a line, let's chat.

Today was the National LEO of the Year panel interview in Echuca Victoria, and assessment of general knowledge and Lions/Leos history. Tomorrow is the public speaking section in front of a huge audience made up of lions from all round Australia attending the National Convention. Good luck to our WA entrant and Harvey LEO, Stacey Shaw. It's a pretty daunting quest so fingers crossed everyone back home 👍🏼

We love getting high profile Lions and even Dick Smith to do the famous LEOs duckface.

What an incredible night! We (Bec, Corraleigh, Nicholas, Harley and Leanne) had a ball doing bar and waitressing work last night. It was a full on 7 hour gig, we each clocked up just over 6.5kms in steps, served, washed, collected, cleaned and loved every minute! Congratulations to Chloe and Nick Fucile on your marriage. Thank you for letting us be a part of your big day.

Hey Harvey Leos-Club members and friends ... The lions are sausage sizzling at this music festival fundraiser at Old Coast Road Brewery tomorrow from 3.30pm. Is anyone available to help for an hour or two or three?

24/02/2016

So, the LiveLighter Harvey Harvest Festival is on Sunday, March 20th. We need helpers between 9am and 4pm on our fruit and vegie stall. Please comment below if you can help out. Even if you could do a few hours it'll help. Friends and family are welcome to volunteer as well. This is a valuable fundraiser for our club so it would be good to get everyone there.
