Harvey SES is looking for more volunteers!

Do you have some time for your community?
As much or as little as you can give.
What to learn new skills ?
We will train you for free and supply PPE.

Not only are we looking for active members that can climb on the roof or search the bush for missing persons but also, Operations and Administration members and anyone willing to assist with unit upkeep.

We meet weekly on Mondays from 7pm.
Come down for a chat and see what we do.

🔥 A bushfire ADVICE is current for people travelling along Forrest Highway, Harris Road and Telephone Road near MYALUP STATE FOREST in the SHIRE OF HARVEY.🔥

Update time: 10:31 AM, 12 December 2022.

- There is a lot of smoke in the area.

- Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.

- The fire started near the intersection of FORREST HWY and RIVERDALE RD in MYALUP.

❗ WHAT TO DO: ❗

If driving
- Be extremely careful when driving through the area.
- Turn your headlights on and drive slowly.
- Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.
- If you cannot see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears.
- If you have a respiratory condition and you have been affected by smoke you should contact your local doctor or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222.

😷 COVID-19 😷

If you are told to leave in an emergency, don't stay at home even if you have COVID-19 or COVID-like symptoms. You may stay at a friend or relative's house, an evacuation centre or other suitable accommodation. If you have COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19, take these steps to prevent spreading the illness if you can:
- wear a mask around other people
- wash your hands regularly
- stay and sleep in a separate room
- maintain physical distancing.

🔥 BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR: 🔥

It is uncontained and uncontrolled.

🚨 WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING 🚨

Firefighters are on the scene, actively fighting the fire.

🚧 ROAD CLOSURES AND CONDITIONS: 🚧

Roads have not been closed.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke. Road information may also be available from Main Roads WA by visiting the Main Roads Travel Map, calling 138 138 or by contacting your Local Government Authority.

🚁 DRONES AND AERIAL SUPPORT: 🚁

Never fly a drone, model aircraft or multirotor near bushfires. Doing so poses a major safety risk to firefighting personnel in the air and on the ground, and forces aircraft to be grounded or redirected, hindering firefighting efforts.
