Varroa Destructor discovered at Newcastle NSW! This is the first incursion since Townsville a couple of years ago. There’s a 50km radius zone been declared by the NSW government. The DPI is coordinating beekeepers and relevant bodies to stop the spread. Don’t move or touch your hives in this zone. Notify the DPI of the location of all your hives and of any feral hives you’re aware of. It will take a long time for the response team to inspect and treat every hive
I don’t like being told what to do by government, but in this case let’s pitch in to eradicate this evil bug before it decimates our honeybee industry and hobby alike.
