This footage is from December 2019, during the Gospers Mountain Fire. Our crew was tasked with property protection at a property in Colo Heights.

Two videos (the second one in the comments) taken just 15 minutes apart at the same property. It’s a confronting reminder of just how quickly conditions can change during a bush fire.

🚒 COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE

We have a generator and running water available at the station if any of our local residents need a hand with charging phones/devices or filling a bucket with water for essential needs 🚽🪣💦 (if you know, you know!)

❌TOTAL FIRE BAN - Saturday, 5 September❌

A Total Fire Ban will be in place tomorrow, Saturday 5 September for the Greater Sydney Region, with Extreme fire danger forecast.

Warm, dry and windy conditions are forecast across parts of the state, with much of northeast NSW experiencing High fire danger.

Take action now. Know your fire risk and what you will do if fire threatens. Remember to report all unattended fires to Triple Zero (000).

Please take extra care as the weather warms up and the wind speed increases. 🔥💦🧯

Over the past few days, crews have responded to numerous escaped burns across the state. With elevated fire conditions forecast across the weekend, we are urging residents to take extra care when conducting your burns.

While fire agencies and land managers will be closely monitoring areas where hazard reduction burns have been conducted earlier this week, we are also asking landholders to closely monitor their own burns.

If you are in an area currently within its Bush Fire Danger Period, you must have a permit from your local brigade and notify your neighbours and the RFS at least 24 hours before conducting your burn.

In an emergency, every second counts.

Make sure your property entrance is clearly signed, easy to identify from the road, and fitted with visible property numbers at the main gate or fence line. This is especially important in rural and semi-rural areas where properties can be difficult to locate at night, in smoke, or during fast moving bush fires. Clear property identification helps firefighters reach you faster when it matters most.

Take a few minutes to check your signage and ensure your property can be easily identified in an emergency. It could save valuable time when help is on the way.
