Hazard Reduction – Greens Swamp HR, Lower Portland

On behalf of the Hawkesbury Bush Fire Management Committee, the community is advised that the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) supported by the NSW RFS are intending to undertake the Greens Swamp Hazard Reduction burn at Lower Portland, weather and conditions permitting.

📅 Date: Sunday 2 August 2026
⏰ Time: Commencing from 11:00hrs
📍 Location: Vicinity of Wheelbarrow Ridge Rd & Greens Swamp Trl, Lower Portland
📏 Size: 750ha
🚒 Lead Agency: National Parks and Wildlife Service

Smoke may be visible from surrounding areas following Sunday and leading into next week. Residents with respiratory conditions are encouraged to take appropriate precautions, and motorists should drive to conditions if smoke affects visibility on nearby roads.

Today there will be a HR at Scheyville Park, smoke will be present in the vicinity for today through to Sunday.

Hazard Reduction – Paddock HR, Scheyville

On behalf of the Hawkesbury Bush Fire Management Committee, the community is advised that the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) supported by the NSW RFS are intending to undertake the Paddock Hazard Reduction burn at Sheyville National Park.

📅 Date: Thursday 23 July 2026
⏰ Time: Commencing from 10:00hrs
📍 Location: Scheyville Rd & Dormitory Hill Rd, Sheyville National Park
📏 Size: 40 ha
🚒 Lead Agency: National Parks and Wildlife Service

Operations are expected to be completed by Sunday 26 July 2026, weather and conditions permitting.

Smoke may be visible from surrounding areas during this period. Residents with respiratory conditions are encouraged to take appropriate precautions, and motorists should drive to conditions if smoke affects visibility on nearby roads.

Locals may have noticed that Ebenezer RFS has installed a VMS board at the top of Kolora Road, providing updates on fire danger ratings, road closures and general information.
We are super excited about this and we hope it helps the community.

On behalf of Ebenezer RFS we would like to extend our condolences to Grose Wold Rural Fire Brigade and the Killen Family on the passing of Sean Killen who is possibly the most kindness person we know. Rest easy Sean.

It is with the deepest regret and sadness that the family of Sean Killen has asked us to pass on that Sean has passed away on Wednesday 20th May from his illness.

We would like to pass on our deepest sympathies to the Killen family.

Sean and his family have been long-term members of Grose Wold Brigade and is well respected in the community. Sean was the captain of Grose Wold Brigade more than once and was the driving force in building the station to what it is today from a single bay shed and has left a legacy that will be hard to follow.

Sean will be missed by many people however please give family space and time to come to terms and deal with Sean’s loss.

Funeral arrangements are as follows

Parking is limited so please carpool where possible.

Sean requested personally that no RFS uniforms be worn just come in bright colours and celebrate his life.

Ebenezer RFB extends our condolences to the family.

Yesterday, Ebenezer 1 and a crew went to Lower Portland (Lower Portland RFB) to assist with the Barnes East HR Phase 2.
The Hazard Reduction was a relatively calm burn, and all three sectors were successfully burned.

On route back to our station (17:30) Ebenezer 1 was sent to a grass fire at the pedestrian bridge in Windsor, assisting NSW RFS - Wilberforce Brigade to extinguish the area.
