On behalf of Ebenezer RFS we would like to extend our condolences to Grose Wold Rural Fire Brigade and the Killen Family on the passing of Sean Killen who is possibly the most kindness person we know. Rest easy Sean.

It is with the deepest regret and sadness that the family of Sean Killen has asked us to pass on that Sean has passed away on Wednesday 20th May from his illness.

We would like to pass on our deepest sympathies to the Killen family.

Sean and his family have been long-term members of Grose Wold Brigade and is well respected in the community. Sean was the captain of Grose Wold Brigade more than once and was the driving force in building the station to what it is today from a single bay shed and has left a legacy that will be hard to follow.

Sean will be missed by many people however please give family space and time to come to terms and deal with Sean’s loss.

Yesterday, Ebenezer 1 and a crew went to Lower Portland (Lower Portland RFB) to assist with the Barnes East HR Phase 2.
The Hazard Reduction was a relatively calm burn, and all three sectors were successfully burned.

On route back to our station (17:30) Ebenezer 1 was sent to a grass fire at the pedestrian bridge in Windsor, assisting NSW RFS - Wilberforce Brigade to extinguish the area.

Ebenezer RFB would like to extend our condolences to the Kings Family, Kings Mitre 10 past and present staff and customers who knew Ron.

Today we share the sad news of the passing of Ronald Walter King, who passed away on the 11th of March 2026 at the age of 77.

Ron was the son of H.R. King, and part of the family behind H.R. King & Son, a business that has been serving the Hawkesbury community for generations.

Ron was always known as the “finer details” man of the business. His specialty was in hardware and plumbing, and he had an incredible depth of knowledge when it came to helping local farmers and customers find the right product or the right way to fix a problem. Many in the district relied on Ron’s practical advice, and he always took the time to make sure people understood what was good — and what wasn’t.

Ron played a pivotal role in the opening and expansion of our North Richmond site in 2002, helping grow the business and strengthen its connection with builders, tradies, and the farming community.

Although Ron semi-retired from the business in 2010, those who frequent Ebenezer know retirement never really suited him. It wasn’t uncommon to see Ron with his head poking through the door, checking how things were going and making sure customers were being looked after.

Ron was also a man of strong Christian faith, which guided the way he lived his life and treated others — with honesty, humility, and a genuine care for people.

Ron was part of the fabric of this business and the wider Hawkesbury community for decades. His knowledge, care, and attention to detail helped shape the yard into what it is today.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the King family at this difficult time.

We take comfort in knowing Ron is now with the Lord he faithfully trusted throughout his life.

Vale Andrew Rourke

It's with great sadness that we informed the community about the passing of a member of Ebenezer RFS.

Andrew passed away Sunday late evening.

Andrew was a member of Ebenezer RFS for 41 years and was a Deputy Captain for 20+ years and a Senior Deputy Captain and President for 5 years, he was also inducted as a Lifetime Member of Ebenezer RFS in December 2025. He also loved his roll as the big man in red during Christmas events.
Andrew was also an Army man and served in the ADF for a number of years.
But he loved serving his community of Ebenezer as a volunteer firefighter the most.

He will be greatly missed by his twin sister, family and friends, but also by brigade members that he volunteered with.
