Recently, Olivia and Declan travelled to Perth to check in on the veterans and families we housed within just 7 days.

Hearing firsthand how a safe, stable home has already changed their lives was an incredibly rewarding experience for the whole team.

๐Ÿก 94 years. Still going.

Since 1932, we've helped veteran families move from crisis to comfort, from waitlists to front doors of their own. But the need hasn't slowed down. The waitlist doesn't take a week off, and neither do we.

This Homelessness Week, you've met Dan, seen the sketches, watched the archival reels. Now here's how you can be part of the next story.

A North Melbourne slum. A digger and his family of six. ๐ŸŽž๏ธ

Homelessness doesn't stop at one person. Partners, kids, the people who served alongside them in every way that counts, except in uniform, carry it too.

This is from our archives, but the story isn't old. Families are still standing where this digger once stood.

No hope. Fresh start. Same veteran. ๐ŸŽจ

This sketch by artist Barry Spicer says it in two frames what a thousand stats can't. The gap between homelessness and home isn't just a roof, it's a whole life.

For veterans like Dan, transitioning out of service can mean a fast drop, from stability to couch surfing, almost overnight. ๐ŸŽฌ

That's a roller coaster no one should have to ride alone.

Dan's story shows what happens when it stops: a home, a routine, a place to breathe. Stability isn't a luxury. It's the foundation everything else is built on.

This Homelessness Week, it's important to meet the stories behind the stats.

Thank you, Veteran and Family Wellbeing Agency, for highlighting Veteran Housing Australia's Connection to Purpose this Homelessness Week: 'Every veteran deserves a safe place to sleep'. We appreciate your support in helping raise awareness of veteran homelessness ๐Ÿงก

This Homelessness Week, weโ€™re highlighting the connection to purpose that drives Veteran Housing Australia (VHA) on its mission to end veteran homelessness.

In 1932, First World War veteran William Hawkins founded the Carry On Club on one principle โ€˜do good by stealthโ€™. 94 years on, VHA lives that ethos every day as a registered community housing provider (CHP) dedicated exclusively to veterans and families of veterans.

For VHA CEO and Australian Army veteran Rob Miller, the connection to purpose is simple, โ€˜every veteran deserves a safe place to sleep.โ€™

Housing stability is foundational to health, connection, and independence.

From abject poverty to reasonable comfort. ๐ŸŽž๏ธ

That's how our very first case notes described a South Melbourne family of eleven, back when we were still the Carry On Club.

Nearly a century later, the goal hasn't changed. Veterans and their families still need safe, stable homes. This Homelessness Week, we're sharing where we came from so you can see why we keep going.

Follow along all week as we share more of these stories. ๐ŸŽž๏ธ

โš“ Before HMAS Australia made headlines, one small ship quietly made history. Meet HMAS Yarra (D79) โ€” the very first warship built specifically for our new Royal Australian Navy. Redesigned for Aussie conditions, tested in WWI convoy duty, the Adriatic, and even the Black Sea, Yarra's story is a fascinating slice of our naval heritage.

In our latest blog, naval enthusiast Drachinifel โ€” whose YouTube channel has over 500,000 subscribers โ€” traces Yarra's journey and its role in shaping the Navy we know today.
