Today at Story Time we read “The First Hippo on the Moon” 🌙 by David Walliams and then we constructed our own rockets 🚀 out of recycled materials. Next week we are celebrating Book Week and the children are welcome to dress up.

💰 HAY LOCALS DID WHAT TO RAISE A DOLLAR?! 😅

This MONDAY we’re digging into some of the weirdest, funniest and most successful ways Hay locals have raised money over the years - the big ideas, the slightly questionable ideas, and the ones that somehow turned a few dollars into thousands. Our little town can raise some serious cash when we all band together!

Have a memory you’d like us to talk about? Comment or send us a message!

🏃 We’ll also be joined by Daniel Green, who is currently putting in some serious kilometres for Fred’s Big Run, raising money for The Fred Hollows Foundation. Daniel has already clocked up more than 300 km this August and will tell us what possessed him to take it on!

☕ Come along for a cuppa, a few good stories and a look back at just how far Hay people have been willing to go for a good cause.

📅 THIS MONDAY – 17 AUGUST
⏰ 10:30am–12pm
📍 Hay Shire Library

Daniel’s fundraising QR code will also be available on the day if you’d like to throw a few dollars behind those kilometres - you can also bring a few coins if you have any to spare. No pressure to donate 🧡

No bookings needed - just come along. We’d love to see you there! ⭐️👍

📣 Have questions about My Aged Care? Come along this Tuesday and get the information you need, face-to-face.

This Tuesday 11 August at 10:30am, we’re welcoming Nicole Conway, Aged Care Specialist Officer from Services Australia, to the Hay Shire Library Complex for a free My Aged Care information session.

Navigating My Aged Care can sometimes feel complicated, particularly if you’re not sure what services are available, whether you’re eligible for support or where to start. Nicole will be here to help make the process easier to understand.

💬 The session will cover how to get started with My Aged Care, how assessments work, the different types of support available to help people remain living independently at home, and what happens after you’ve been assessed. Nicole can also provide information about aged care fees and costs, registered supporters, and where to go when you need additional help navigating the system.

🏡 We’d particularly encourage our current Hay Shire Council Multi Service Outlet (HMSO) clients and their families to come along, as well as anyone who may be considering accessing Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) services now or in the future.

HMSO provides local supports designed to help eligible older people remain independent, connected and living safely at home and in our community.

🤝 HMSO staff will also be available on the day to answer any questions you may have about our local services, how they work and the supports available through HMSO.

Whether you’re already receiving support, think you might need a little extra help, are supporting a family member, or simply want to understand your options for the future, we’d love to see you there!

We can't wait to see you all there and are proud to offer quality and accessible aged care services to our community 😀

This month at Story Time our theme is 🚀☄️🔭🪐Space🛸🧑‍🚀⭐️✨, today we sang and danced and then read “ To catch a star” by Oliver Jeffers together. Afterwards we made our very own star to take home just like in the story. The babies also enjoyed some tummy time.

Story Time is at 10:30am every Tuesday for children aged 0-5 and their carers, all welcome.
