Thursday night training in Heathcote, nothing out of the ordinary, yet everything that matters. Despite the biting cold, our dedicated volunteers showed up and gave their all to a traffic management training session.

This week we also celebrate National Volunteers Week. A time to recognise and honour the incredible people who give their time so selflessly to keep our communities safe.

We'd like to give a huge shout out to the entire crew at SES Heathcote, whose commitment and dedication never goes unnoticed.

But our gratitude doesn't stop there. To every volunteer across the country, whether you're with the SES, CFA, Rural Fire Service, St John Ambulance, Red Cross, Lifeline, or any of the countless other organisations that hold our communities together, thank you.

What you do matters more than words can express.

Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day)! 20th May 2026

This Wednesday is the national day of thanks for the wonderful SES volunteers who provide vital support to our communities.

How are you celebrating? Whether you’ve added a touch of orange to your outfit, planned an orange-themed event, donated to your local VICSES unit or even joined up as a member, (Wright St, Thursday nights from 7pm if you are interested!) we’d love to hear your story.

Heads up, Heathcote!

After last year’s sell‑out success, Quiztriviganza is back — bigger, louder, and ready to riff again!

Today, on ANZAC Day, we pause to remember and honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of all those who have worn our nation’s uniform.

We reflect on the legacy of the ANZACs and all who have followed, giving their time, strength, and in many cases their lives, for the safety and freedom of others.

At SES Heathcote, we are proud to serve our community, and today reminds us of the values we carry forward, mateship, resilience, and selfless service.

Lest We Forget. 🌺

✨🧡SES TALLY UPDATE!!🧡✨
It seems that the giving keeps happening! All through summer, our local SES Unit has been there to support us through storms, high winds, fire and flood. Who knew we could experience them all in summer!

With our dollar for dollar matching of all funds raised by SES Heathcote Unit towards their 4WD medium rescue truck, we have now raised $106,334.50!! We know that multiple fundraisers are planned over the coming months so hopefully we can see that tally reach the $200k target before long. 🤞

Shout outs to the generosity of locals and visitors alike with Rattle Tins located in various businesses around town collecting $524.70. Top Dog Liquor contributing $270.30 from the 10‑cent bottle and can deposit scheme. Libertas Legal depositing $180 from their recent Will writing promotion and $83.70 from Heathcote Community House as a donation from their Zucchini Festival.

Well done and thank you to everyone who has contributed so far!

This weekend saw a gathering of 40 women members of VICSES from around the Loddon Mallee region.

Women in Rescue is an annual event designed to allow women in the service the opportunity to network, develop and improve skills and share knowledge and experience. This year’s event took a different format.

Held at Billabong Ranch in Echuca, they worked during the day on skills required for land search, and were joined by members of VicPol.

The day ended with a multi agency night time land search.

Heathcote SES was represented by Mel Thompson who is looking forward to sharing the experience and skills learned, with the Heathcote unit.

Come on down to the Bush Market and have a go at the “Combi-tool” and meet some of our crew.
