We have formed a COOPERATIVE here in Queensland to provide National support to the fruit and vegetable industry. We are in our early days but we are looking carefully at what can we do in the world of insurance or disaster management to establish a independently managed fund to support our farming and growing community.

Any advice would be welcome just send it to office .com.au

Off to Hong Kong this weekend as part of our desire to raise stage 1 build costs of AUD $25 million-reaching across the World as Australia (sadly) a dead zone for innovative fund raising - Australian Banks and major investors say “no brainer - let’s do it, Colin but don’t want to fund a start up manufacturer!!!!!

After a busy morning on Lockyer Valley food work in Brisbane with my colleague Andy Moore ended up at the French patisserie in Rosalie for deliciously pleasant luncheon and combined breakfast – I bought a beautiful chocolate log. This is one of my favourite places.

We are working to build a major fruit and vegetable proceeding facility in Withcott - 400 jobs, state of the art technology, and a need to stimulate the benefits of regional rail services. Imagine all those new jobs complemented by the opportunity to create new homes in the region and ensure minimised impact on the road network by utilising and supporting the rail service and delivering food security and regional wealth at the same time.

🚉🚌 A stronger, more connected 50 cent region is within reach.

This is not a new concept….

In the 1860s you could travel Toowoomba to Brisbane via a coordinated Cobb & Co coach, train and paddle steamer - all on one ticket!

The Toowoomba Region has always been a service centre for communities to our West, North and South – and it’s clear we are a key solution to our East.

It’s important for decision makers to understand the benefits of extending the electrification of the rail from Rosewood to Withcott in order to invest.

The Queensland Government Translink website informs us of the benefits of using public transport. From an environment perspective It states that “One full bus can take more than 50 cars off the road - 1 full train can take more than 600 cars off the road”.

It seems obvious that a 50c connected South East Queensland, including the Toowoomba Region, will enhance the liveability of residents and grow the economy for Queensland.

🙏🏼 to all those who have reached out encouraging us to keep the rail agenda “ON TRACK”!

Farewell JOHN LAWS -a gentlemen

Colin Dorber former executive director of the New South Wales Forest Products Association during the late 80s and 90s was proud to recognise and remember John Laws who departed us yesterday. John Laws was also a man for the ordinary people like me, he said.

Mr Dorber said, I recall during a particularly nasty period of confrontation with Green groups I subsequently had a heart attack and was absent from the workplace for a time. Mr. Laws reached out to me, supported me encouraged me, and acknowledged the importance of ordinary people like Sawmillers and Logging Contractors having rights to work and survive in addition to the perceived rights of those campaigning against the native forest based industries .

Mr. Laws was generous in his support, courteous in his attention and made sure that an ordinary people like me representing Sawmillers and Loggers were entitled to their point of view.

He helped us win security of resource during those difficult times- it's sad to see that since those days governments and opponents of sustainable timber harvesting have brought the native forest industry to its knees.
RIP John Laws 🙏👌
