RRL Reads: A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles
In 1922, Count Alexander Rostov is deemed an unrepentant aristocrat by the Bolshevik tribunal.
He is sentenced to house arrest throughout some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history.
Published in 2016, it has taken me ten years to read this book because how could a 461 page story in tiny font about a man living in an attic possibly hold my interest?
And then I began, only to savour every beautifully written word until the end.
Charming (heads up, Alexander is one to fall in love with), intelligent, funny, elegant.
A book that has found a spot in my top 10 favourite books.

🎨 THE 2026 YOUTH WEEK ART COMPETITION WINNER 🎨

Voting has officially concluded, and we are excited to announce that Tilly is the winner of the 2026 Youth Week Art Competition with her stunning artwork, "Falling."

As the winner, Tilly received an Instax Polaroid Camera pack.

When asked to describe her artwork, Tilly said:
"When you're listening to music, you're just in the moment, not thinking about anything else but the music. This is what this painting encapsulates."

When asked what she plans to do with her new camera, Tilly simply replied:
"To capture moments."

Tilly's beautiful artwork is now proudly on display in the Culcairn Library Youth Room, where visitors can enjoy it for themselves.

A huge congratulations to Tilly, and thank you to everyone who entered the competition and to all community members who took the time to vote. Your support helped make this year's competition a wonderful success.
