An issue we've had for a while is only having two trained and accredited chainsaw operators. This has put pressure onto those two to attend to 'tree down' jobs.
A few weekends ago, another two of our members did the training and we gained another two chainsaw operators! This now eases the pressure on the first two. Well done Ian and Paul!
If you'd like to help ease the pressures on your very few local SES Heywood Unit members, we welcome you to make contact. We are growing, and gaining necessary skills, and we'd like to share these with like-minded community members who join up as well.
All nearby units welcome applicants, the more we have, the less load we as individuals carry. If you can spare:
2 hours a week for training
Call outs - varies, sometimes nothing for a week, and other times multiples
Variety of times - day, night, super early hours of the morning (we have mints for those jobs)
Don't use the "Q" word (another word for 'shhh') to describe the l*l in jobs
