On Tuesday a group of senior FTV, Media, Arts and Drama Students had an incredible opportunity to visit the Queensland University of Technology Creative Industries Precinct as part of the QUT x Essential Screen Skills Experience Day. Students explored the exciting world of screen production through hands-on workshops in television broadcasting, virtual production, animation, production design, shadow puppetry, and screen acting. From working in professional studios to creating their own screen content, students gained valuable insight into future pathways in the creative industries and experienced university life firsthand. 🌟🎥✨

Sport
Three of our students achieved an outstanding accomplishment WINNING the Open Boys State Championships for Hockey as members of the Darling Downs School Representative Team.

The final was an absolute thriller, with the scores tied at full-time and the match ultimately decided by a high-pressure penalty shootout — where the boys held their nerve to secure the victory!

They have represented themselves, their families, our school, and the Darling Downs region with pride.

Dylan Belanyi, Cameron Mahon and Quinn Stefanowicz.

Dylan was also selected in the QLD Open Boys Merit Team.

The conference provided an opportunity to connect with student leaders from across the region, develop leadership skills, and explore ways to make a positive impact within their school communities.

Agricultural practices

A big thank you to RDO Equipment for showing our Year 11 Agricultural Practices students around your impressive new $45 million facility today.

With around $50 million worth of machinery under one roof, students gained a firsthand look at the technology and innovation driving modern agriculture.

We appreciate the time and expertise shared by the RDO team!

Kokoda Challenge

Congratulations to Cadoc, Harvey, Chayton and Pieter, along with Mr Day, who successfully completed the 48km Kokoda Challenge Brisbane on Saturday!

The team crossed the finish line in an incredible 13 hours and 10 minutes, showing determination, resilience and teamwork every step of the way. Battling hot daytime conditions before pushing through heavy rain, mud and challenging terrain well into the night, they demonstrated the true Kokoda spirit. 💪🏽🏔️🌧️

An outstanding achievement and one they should be incredibly proud of. Well done, team!
