Player Focus! From the very beginning of the Spartans Rugby Club, Baxy was one of the first to put his hand up and get involved. A former member of the Royal Australian Signals Corps rugby team, he recognised the importance of what the Spartans were trying to achieve - bringing veterans together through rugby, camaraderie, and a shared sense of purpose. We’re proud to have Baxy as part of the Spartan family and look forward to seeing him continue his rugby journey in green and gold for many years to come.

A player who is part of the very fabric of the Spartans, he previously was as a player in the Royal Australian Signals Spartans team. Tim continued to do what he does best, be a leading member of the new Spartans, but why do it all again?

We asked some of our players why they joined the Spartans Rugby Club?

One answer stood out - “just like being supported in a lineout, veterans need other veterans around them. No one lifts alone”

The Spartans is more than a rugby club. It’s mateship, support, purpose, and belonging through the platform of rugby.

With major playing events in 2026 into 2027 that include:

Rugby 15’s tournaments & matches,
Rugby 7’s,
Beach rugby,
Plus various courses to gain important qualifications.

There is plenty to look forward to as we prepare for our International Tour next year! A great time to become a Spartan.

ATTENTION 🚨There are a few spots remaining for the Spartans Rugby Club First Aid Course in Toowoomba on 27 June.

This course is the prerequisite for the Sports Trainer Course we will be running soon, and current First Aid and CPR qualifications are required to attend it.

The First Aid course includes online learning and a practical assessment on 27 June.

Spartans Rugby Club are excited to announce that we have recently entered into partnership with Top of the Range Training Toowoomba. A veteran-led and veteran-developed company that will be supporting the club with our first aid and medical training requirements as we move forward throughout this year and beyond.

Based in Toowoomba, Queensland, Top of the Range Training are an outstanding provider of first aid qualifications and further advanced medical training, delivering professional instruction backed by real-world experience and a strong understanding of the veteran community.

This partnership will assist the Spartans in continuing to build pathways for our members through sport, qualifications, and community engagement, while ensuring our players, staff, and volunteers have access to high-quality training opportunities.

We look forward to building a strong and continuing relationship with Top of the Range Training into the future.

The Spartan's Rugby Club is now taking expressions of interest for individuals wishing to apply and bid for the opportunity to attend upcoming First Aid courses, being delivered in support of our Sports Level 1 Trainer pathway later this year.

Successful applicants will undertake:

• Basic First Aid
• CPR
• Spinal Injury Management

These qualifications form the prerequisite requirements for attendance on the Sports Level 1 Trainer Course, which the Spartans will also be facilitating later in the year.

The First Aid course is currently planned to be delivered in either the Brisbane or Toowoomba region and will consist of two phases:

• An online learning component
• A subsequent practical assessment phase (1 Day)

If you are interested in attending, head over to the Spartans webpage, complete an application via the e-mail link provided, and submit your Expression of Interest to Spartans Rugby. The club will get back to you ASAP with all information required to move forward with your application.

NOTE - Due to a limited number of places available on the course, all applicants are required to be registered members of the club, either as a player or social member to be considered to attend.
