🍟🧡 Orange Class – Our Hot Chips Heroes! 🧡🍟

Move over MasterChef… this week the hottest ticket in town was a serve of hot chips for our attendance champions!

Congratulations to Orange Class, who were crowned our Hill Top Hot Chips Heroes after achieving the highest attendance rate in the school. As their reward, they enjoyed a well-deserved hot chip celebration with their classmates. Judging by the smiles, they were a very popular lunch choice! 😄

At Hill Top Public School, we know that every day at school matters. Regular attendance helps students build strong friendships, develop confidence, stay connected to their learning and make the most of every opportunity that comes their way.

So, while hot chips are certainly a tasty incentive, the real reward is being at school every day, learning, growing and achieving alongside friends.

🐝📚 Celebrating Our Hill Top Public School Spelling Bee Champions! 📚🐝

Today we proudly held our school finals for the NSW Premier’s Spelling Bee and were incredibly impressed by the outstanding spelling skills, determination and confidence demonstrated by our students.

The Spelling Bee is a wonderful opportunity for students to challenge themselves, expand their vocabulary and develop a love of language and literacy. Every student who participated should be proud of their efforts and willingness to have a go.

A special congratulations to our Stage 2 and Stage 3 winners, who will now progress to the next stage of the NSW Premier’s Spelling Bee. We are incredibly proud of their achievement and look forward to cheering them on as they represent Hill Top Public School in the next round of competition. We know they will be wonderful ambassadors for our school community.

A special thank you to Mrs Fenn for her organisation of this wonderful event. Opportunities such as the Spelling Bee help nurture a love of learning while providing students with authentic opportunities to challenge themselves, build confidence and celebrate success.

Congratulations to all of our participants, finalists, winners and runners-up. We are so proud of the way you embraced the challenge and demonstrated our Hill Top values throughout the competition.

📣 SAVE THE DATE – Year 6 to High School Transition Information Evening 📣

At Hill Top Public School, we are committed to working in partnership with our local schools to ensure every student feels confident, supported and excited about their transition to high school.

We are pleased to be hosting the Bowral High School Information Evening on Wednesday 24 June 2026 from 5:00pm–7:00pm in our school hall.

This is a wonderful opportunity for Year 6 students and their families to meet the Bowral High School Principal and the 2027 Year Adviser, learn more about high school life, ask questions, and begin building positive connections before the move to high school.

Strong partnerships between schools play an important role in creating a smooth and successful transition for students. By working together, we can support our young people to feel connected, informed and ready for the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.

♟️ Thinking, Learning and Having Fun at Chess Club! ♟️

A view into Chess Club, led by the wonderful Mr McCormack.

Chess Club provides students with the opportunity to learn the game of chess, develop their strategic thinking skills, solve problems, and most importantly, enjoy spending time with friends who share a common interest. It was fantastic to see students demonstrating patience, perseverance, sportsmanship and concentration as they carefully planned their next moves.

At Hill Top Public School, we are proud to offer opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom and help students discover new passions and strengths. Chess Club is just one of the many ways our students can connect, challenge themselves and have fun while learning.

A big thank you to Mr McCormack for giving up his time to coordinate this valuable opportunity for our students.

What a wonderful first week it has been at Hill Top Public School 🫶🏻

You may have already spotted me at the school gate each morning and afternoon – I’m the one with the bright pink glasses and a big smile (and now a big jacket and scarf 🥶). I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting our students, families and staff, and getting to know what makes Hill Top such a special place.

One of the highlights of my week has been visiting classrooms to share one of my favourite stories, Jetty Jumping. The students have been fantastic listeners, and I have loved hearing their own stories while sharing memories of jetty jumping adventures from my favourite holiday destination, Sussex Inlet.

As I begin my role as Acting Principal, I want to acknowledge the incredible work of Mr Gardiner and the dedicated Hill Top team. It is clear to see the strong sense of community, care and pride that exists within this school, and I feel very grateful for the opportunity to be part of it.

I am looking forward to continuing the great work already happening at Hill Top, building relationships with our students and families, and working together to ensure every child feels known, valued and supported.

If you see me at the gate, please come and say hello. I would love the opportunity to meet you and learn more about our wonderful Hill Top community.

Hill Top RFS and our wonderful school spent a moment this morning commissioning the community water tank reserve on the school grounds. So great to see Public Schools partnering with community, linking infrastructure and helping prepare our village for the seasons ahead.
