Connections, Culture and Relationships!!

This was the theme for the Secondary Girls Wellbeing afternoon held today. 🥔 Nuts About Gnocchi! 🥔

Our Years 5 and 6 students put their cooking skills to the test by creating homemade gnocchi from scratch using potatoes grown in our very own school garden!

They then flavoured their gnocchi four delicious ways: pea and bacon, tomato and basil, creamy cheese, and crispy garlic-fried. This was a challenging recipe that required patience, teamwork and precision, and our students rose to the occasion beautifully.

What a fantastic effort from our budding chefs — the future of cooking is in good hands!

⭐️ Subitising Superstars ⭐️
Our Kindergarten students had a fantastic time playing Capture the Square during Mathematics today!

Using two six-sided dice, students practised their number sense and subitising skills as they worked to quickly find the total of the dice.

This engaging game encouraged students to develop their addition strategies, strengthen their understanding of number relationships, and build confidence with mental computation. All while having lots of fun!

Practically Perfect Performers

Twelve talented Hillston Central School students performed as part of the ensemble in The Arts Unit's production of Mary Poppins Jr. on Friday night in Sydney.
Following months of rehearsing at school and at home, students took to the stage for two sold out performances, showcasing their hard work, confidence and teamwork.
We were also honoured to have the Deputy Secretary of NSW Public Schools in the audience for this special occasion.
We are incredibly proud of all our performers and grateful to the families, staff and supporters who helped make this experience possible.

Plotting Possibilities

Today Year 5 students uncovered the magic of the Cartesian plane!
Students recognised that the grid-map reference system gives the area of a location, and the Cartesian plane identifies a specific point.
We saw René Descartes legend come to life when a fly decided to visit us during our lesson today!
Students enjoyed locating positions by drawing their own Cartesian planes with an x and y axis and describing positions by playing ‘locate a fly’ game!
