Runnymede House Tasmania Runnymede Historic House & Gardens is a National Trust property accessible by guided tours and events Group tour and school bookings are welcome.

Located at New Town, just five minutes' drive from Hobart CBD, this historic 19th century house was originally home to whaling Captain Charles Bayley and members of his family. Now dedicated to marine conservation, the house contains rich collections of material related to whaling and maritime interests, as well as artworks and family possessions of the previous owner Bishop Francis Nixon, Tasmani

a’s first Anglican Bishop. Runnymede survives with house, cottage and coach house within extensive gardens. The house and gardens are open to the public for most of the year by tour or special event. The property has ample parking, extensive gardens and accessible public toilets. The house and grounds are also available for weddings and other events. PAINTING GRAINING AND MARBLING RUNNYMEDE

9 AM - 1 PM

Learn about traditional paints and materials to reproduce stone, woodgrain and other special finishes for appropriate conservation of your traditional heritage property, furniture or fittings.

John Michael Bremer- Trainor a heritage painter and gilder with extensive experience in the most precious heritage sites overseas including the Windsor Castle restoration and now here in Tasmania at Woolmers, Narryna and New Town Park.

Michael will lead the session and discuss techniques and authentic materials and demonstrate painting, graining and marbling as used in world class conservation.

Bob Broughton from BHC at Runnymede will provide assistance with setting up the session and will be giving guided tour of Runnymede.
