The Australian Government is introducing a new emergency warning system later this year called AusAlert.

AusAlert uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices during local and national disasters.

These messages aim to keep communities informed so they can take action, saving lives and property.

In the lead up to AusAlert being used, there will be some testing of the system during June and July.

A regional test is happening in the Launceston area on 15 June, followed by a national test on 27 July.

For more information and resources, visit www.ausalert.gov.au.

Yesterday libraries around the state celebrated National Simultaneous Storytime. ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿฆ˜โšฝ

At 12:00 pm, babies, young children, students, adults/carers and staff at Libraries Tasmania joined millions of others across Australia to read ๐˜“๐˜ถ๐˜ฏ๐˜ข ๐˜™๐˜ฐ๐˜ฐ written by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, and illustrated by Jake Minton.

A heartfelt thank you to all our wonderful guest readers, including: Leon Compton, Peter Gee, Greg Irons, Ros Cornish, Diane Nailon, Richard Curtis, Michelle Dracoulis, Aijah Pepe and many more who shared the powerful story with young people across our state. Your enthusiasm and love of reading made the day truly special.

It was a joy to be part of this nationwide reading moment together! We look forward to welcoming you back to the library again soon.
