It was a pleasure to welcome volunteers from BAPS Swaminarayan Hindu Mandir today on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

The tying of Rakhi, a symbol of protection, care and mutual respect was such a thoughtful gesture that beautifully reflects the spirit of community and togetherness.

Grateful for this warm interaction and the opportunity to strengthen community connections.

Pleased to attend the Mayoral Civic Reception hosted by Councillor Brendan Blomeley, Mayor of the City of Clarence in honour of the Vice-Regal visit of Her Excellency the Honourable Caroline Wells, Governor of Tasmania and Dr Rob Walters RFD.

Her Excellency’s remarks on the importance of community connection, inclusion and belonging were particularly meaningful. It was also a lovely evening celebrating Tasmania’s people, innovation and local enterprise, with Killara Distillery providing a wonderful setting.

Great to meet the Honourable Julie Collins MP , Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and to share a warm conversation during the evening.

Very delighted to be invited to the Onam 2026 celebrations and glad to witness the growing and vibrant Malayali community here in Hobart.
The beautiful celebration organised by the Hobart Malayali Association showcased Kerala’s rich heritage, culture and traditions, along with the beautiful and wholesome feast, the Onam Sadhya.

The celebrations were also cojoined by Madeleine Ogilvie MP, Acting Lord Mayor Dr. Zelinda Sherlock, Brendan Blomeley, Mayor of the City of Clarence, Mayor Sue Hickey.

Honoured to host the 80th Independence Day of India in Tasmania, celebrating India’s enduring journey, its values and rich cultural heritage and the deepening friendship between India and Australia, with the support and collaboration of the Indian Cultural Society of Tasmania.

It was a pleasure to welcome The Honourable Eric Abetz MP Treasurer of Tasmania, The Honourable Jacquie Petrusma MP Speaker of House of Assembly, The Honourable Craig Farrell MLC President of Legislative Council, Marcus Vermey MP, The Honourable Josh Willie MP Leader of Opposition, Dr Zelinda Sherlock Acting Lord Mayor, Brendan Blomeley, Mayor of the City of Clarence., Clr. Sue Hickey, Mayor of the Glenrochy city council whose presence added greatly to the occasion.

My sincere appreciation goes to all our distinguished guests, community leaders, cultural representatives and members of the wider Tasmanian community who joined us. The warmth, diversity and enthusiasm of everyone who participated together with the wonderful cultural performances and community engagement made the celebration truly special.

Humbled to be part of the divine and auspicious celebration of the 5th Patotsav of BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Hobart.

It was truly heartening to see the growing community and learn about the Mandir’s selfless service initiatives. Their continued commitment to serving the wider community, including through blood donation and other meaningful community focused activities are commendable.
