Tasmanian Young Labor

Tasmanian Young Labor Tasmanian Young Labor is the youth wing of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) in Tasmania. We stand for equality, dignity and fairness for all people.

All members of the ALP aged 26 and younger are automatically members of Young Labor. We are a progressive, activist movement, which campaigns for our social democratic objectives in the Labor party and the broader community. In 2009 Young Labor successfully pushed the Tasmanian branch of the ALP to be the first in the nation to embrace Marriage Equality. It was Young Labor that placed State-based

Marriage Equality on the agenda of the 2012 State Labor Conference, where Premier Giddings embraced the policy. Young Labor advocates an economic agenda focused on spreading opportunity, not entrenching privilege. That means equitable access to education, healthcare, social insurance, housing, and the right to a safe workplace with decent conditions and fair remuneration. We believe in prioritising people over profits and society over corporations. We care about the sustainability of our planet and leaving a better world for future generations. We want to see a Labor Party that encourages internal debate and discussion and admonishes conformity. If you want to help shape a progressive future for a better world, we encourage you to join the Labor Party and make your voice heard.

SUPPORT OUR TASSIE WORKERS ✊

Liberty Bell Bay workers are fighting to secure their jobs and their livelihoods following the smelter going into administration in March this year. Since March, workers have had to rely on state and federal packages to secure their wages.

Our Petition and Pizza Night will be joined by three special guests, Secretary of AMWU Jacob Batt, Secretary of CEPU Chris Clark and Labor Member for Clark, Ella Haddad MP, Shadow Minister for Workplace Relations.

Whether you’re coming along or unable to make it, be sure to sign the petition in our bio.

Look forward to seeing you there 🫡

What a night! Thank you to TYL members, friends of TYL and our special guest, for coming along to witness a great budget, and a great night of budget bingo!

Love to see our Northern TYL comrades who were apart of their local branch’s budget bingo as well!

This is the most important budget of the decade. Generational tax reform to put workers and young people first over property mogul investors, making a fairer economy and tackling inequality. If you want to be part of that change, join us today! ✊🌹

MASSIVE TYL WINS AT TASMANIAN LABOR CONFERENCE 🚨

Tasmanian Young Labor was extremely proud to fight for a progressive future at this weekend’s Tasmanian Labor Conference.

Conference is where the entire party meets to debate what we want to see as policy for our movement.

This year Young Labor proudly put forward a bold, progressive agenda that we want to see the party adopt. We fought and WON support for dental + mental into Medicare, decriminalisation of cannabis, demanded action on housing, lowering the voting age, pill testing and protections for our environment.

Young Labor will always advocate for the issues that matter to us.

Thank you to everyone who came along, played the pin-the-Medicare-card game, and donated at our stall.

If you want to get involved dm us and join the movement today!
