Wow. You’ve got to be kidding.

A self-described former “terrorist” who says his approach to business is based on the years he spent fighting for a notorious Rhodesian special forces unit is planning to build a new coal mine in Tasmania.

Dave Hodgson wants to dig up a million tonnes a year of coal from a new mine near Fingal, declaring this is God’s plan and saying “if He didn’t want us to use it, He wouldn’t have put it in the ground.”

The kicker? Hodgson plans to use the coal to create what he has described as “green hydrogen” that will result in “zero emissions”.

What a terrible joke.

Simply building a new coal mine and digging up coal will be a climate disaster, due to the methane that will be released.

Kingborough Councillors Gideon Cordover and Amanda Midgley-invite you for a walk and talk in Peter Murrell Reserves next Sunday 21 August from 2-3:30pm.

Special guests from the Friends of Peter Murrell Reserves will join us to share their knowledge of local birds, wildlife and vegetation.
It will be a relaxing walk along the Coffee Creek trail learning about this important reserve and getting to know your Greens Councillors who will be standing for Council again in the October Local Government elections.

Please bring a water bottle, wear sturdy shoes and bring a raincoat. All ages welcome.

Meet at 2pm at the Pony Club carpark (accessed off Howden Road, and sign-posted)

The shareholder meeting for the take-over takes place at 10:00AM Friday, at 188 Collins Street Hobart

They're asking you to join them in protest from 9:30 - bring placards - be bold!
