Learning Together with Our Emergency Services Partners

Last Monday night, our Junior Brigade had the fantastic opportunity to visit the SES Upper Yarra Unit for a hands-on training session.

The evening began with a tour of the SES vehicles and equipment, giving our juniors a chance to see the differences between the tools and appliances used by the SES and CFA. They also learned how our two agencies work together during emergencies and the important ways we support each other to help keep our communities safe.

After the tour, it was time to put teamwork into action! The juniors took part in a range of skill-based and team-building activities using SES equipment, challenging them to communicate, problem-solve and work together just like our emergency service volunteers do every day.

A huge thank you to the incredible volunteers at Upper Yarra SES for taking the time to share their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm with our juniors. Opportunities like these help build not only practical skills, but also a greater understanding of the important role every emergency service plays in our community.

Wednesday’s training was a little different thanks to an invitation from Clarky and Maz from Gembrook CFA. We fought fires using the Virtual Reality firefighting simulator. Thank you for the invite and a great night was had by all.
