⭐Is Bothwell your Tassie Top Tourism Town for 2026? ⭐
Bothwell rests quietly in Tasmania’s Central Highlands, a place that doesn’t need to shout to be unforgettable. Here, the air is crisp, the horizons wide, and the stories real. Walk the historic fairways of Ratho Farm, where tradition runs deep; savour the whisky‑tinged history of Clyde Mill; or settle into the genuine rural warmth of Rathmore, where the charm isn’t staged - it simply exists. Tartan details nod to the town’s heritage, and old buildings share their stories with anyone willing to slow down. In Bothwell, you don’t just pass through — you find a place that feels honestly ... unexpectedly special.

Shearers Quarters & Cottage guests may order our Eweba Eats or Candlelight Homestead Dinner or self cater. Self catering is easy if using Slow Cooker in the messroom with ingredients ordered from us or that the guest provides. How perfect is this Lamb Shank meal Brian made last night paired with fine local wine? 🔥🔥

After chasing waterfalls, snow and alpine air in Mount Field National Park, there’s nothing better than coming home to something slow, warm and deeply satisfying, cooked in the messroom.

Guest Brian did just that last night in the Shearers Quarters at Rathmore — simmering rich lamb shanks in our communal messroom slow cooker, infused with mint and rosemary from the garden. By the time the fire was glowing and the evening chill set in, dinner was ready. A glass of fine local wine in hand. Boots off. Stories from the day shared with Michelle and another guest beside the fire.

This is the kind of traveller we love — unhurried and enjoying simple pleasures. No rush. No crowds. Just real food, real places, and the freedom to make yourself at home for an unforgettable immersive country experience.

How good is a fireside feast you’ve created yourself after a day exploring the Derwent Valley and Central Highlands and viewing our platypus? Stay. Cook. Unwind. Repeat.

A wonderful night celebrating Tourism Awards including our fantastic local 2025 Tasmanian Tourism Champions, Severine & Rodney of The Agrarian Kitchen!

🌿✨ Congratulations to The Agrarian Kitchen!

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate our members Séverine Demanet and Rodney Dunn, who on Friday night received the highest honour in Tasmanian tourism – the 2025 Tasmanian Tourism Champions. 👏

Pioneers of paddock-to-plate dining, Rodney and Séverine have transformed a heritage site in New Norfolk into a world-class hub of culinary and agritourism. Their vision has earned international acclaim while strengthening the Derwent Valley economy, championing local producers, and educating visitors and locals in sustainable food practices.

Values-driven and community-minded, they truly embody the best of Tasmanian tourism - leaving a legacy that will inspire generations to come. 🌾

We’re also proud that this year’s winners were nominated by our committee member Rathmore’s Cally Lyons, with letters of support from our association, regional tourism association Destination Southern Tasmania CEO Alex Heroys and past winners (and fellow members) Jane and Tim Parsons of Curringa Farm, who took home the honour in 2024.

🏆 Two years in a row for the Derwent Valley and Central Highlands!
A huge congratulations to everyone involved — your passion continues to put our region on the map.

Nestled beside green fields and an historic water-powered mill, Clyde Mill serves hearty Tasmanian dishes that pair beautifully with whisky and one of the best outlooks in the state, writes Alix Davis 👉 https://bit.ly/4qo3RqV

Spring in the Highlands means something different. The BOM has snow forecast today and Saturday. Come on up and experience a meal with the snow outside and the roaring log fires inside.
