𝗪𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 - 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗺 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮

Following recent rainfall, higher river flows are expected over the weekend. Some boards will be removed from the Horsham Weir to help manage water levels.

Low-lying areas will be impacted, including:
• O'Brees Road ford
• Dooen Swamp
• Boardwalks below the Horsham Weir
• Potential impact for the Longerenong Road crossing of Yarriambiack Creek.

Never drive through floodwaters. Even shallow water can be dangerous, and conditions can change quickly. Council will continue monitoring conditions and provide updates.

𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 – 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮

Heavy flows through Norton Creek have flooded several low-lying roads and crossings.

Please follow all road closure signage and never drive through floodwaters. Fast-flowing water and wet, unsealed roads can create dangerous conditions for vehicles.

Flows are expected to ease in the coming days. Council will continue monitoring the situation and will provide updates if needed.

𝗪𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲

As a result of this week’s rain event, river levels are rising upstream at Eversley and another flush is expected to pass through Horsham towards the end of this week.

Due to these conditions, the Horsham Weir will be left in its half-open state for the week unless conditions change. The level of the Weir Pool is expected to drop over the course of the week, but the level is expected to be restored by the flush.

Children’s Book Week is coming up, and we want to see your favourite book characters come to life! 📚✨

To celebrate this year’s Symphony of Stories, Horsham Library is inviting children in Grade 6 and below to enter our Children’s Book Week Drawing Competition.

Simply grab some paper and draw your favourite book character doing something you love to do! Maybe your favourite character is reading, dancing, playing sport, baking, gaming, exploring—or something completely silly. Let your imagination take over!

🏆 There are prizes to be won, and winning entries, runners-up and honourable mentions will be proudly displayed at the library.

How to enter:

🎨 Draw your favourite book character doing something you love.
✏️ Include your name and age/grade.
📞 Add a parent or carer’s contact details.
📚 Drop your entry into Horsham Library (please hand it to staff rather than putting it through the returns chute!).
Entries are open from 6 August until Sunday 6 September 2026.

So sharpen those pencils, grab your crayons and get drawing! We can’t wait to see which book characters make an appearance. 💙📖✨

And we’re fully expecting at least a few Rumi drawings from K-Pop Demon Hunters*! 😄*

𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘂𝘀?

A desexed male, tan, Staffordshire Terrier dog and a female, brindle, Staffordshire Terrier dog. Found wandering together in Rasmussen Road, Horsham.

Unfortunately, the contact details registered to their microchips are out of date.

It is important to register and microchip your animals and update your details if they change. This allows Council to reunite stray roaming animals promptly with the owners.
