WSMLLEN is grateful to receive a $3,000 sponsorship from Horsham Sports & Community Club to support our Let's Read program.
This funding will enable us to provide approximately 300 Let's Read book packs to local children and their families, helping encourage reading from an early age and supporting the development of language and literacy skills.
Strong literacy skills are the foundation for lifelong learning. By supporting children in their early years, we're helping build the skills and confidence that underpin future educational success and, ultimately, stronger pathways to employment and lifelong participation in the community.
Thank you to Horsham Sports & Community Club for investing in the future of children across our region. Your support will make a real difference to hundreds of local families.

Busy? Just a little... 😅

One thing we love about WSMLLEN is that no two weeks are ever the same. Every day brings different people, different conversations and new opportunities to help young people connect with education, industry and their future.

✅ This week's tick-off list:

• Catch-ups with partners to discuss new and existing programs
• Quick check-in with Regional Development Victoria
• Trip to Edenhope to catch up with the crew
• State VET Cluster meeting
• Wimmera & Southern Mallee VET Cluster meeting
• Autism professional development
• White Card training delivery
• Community Expo at Horsham Special School
• MATES information session
• Business network catch-up
• Career Taster planning meeting
• Early Childhood Education & Care and Health placement visits
• Careers Expo reflections and follow-up
• Three school catch-ups
• Framing a new pathway program for young people

And somewhere in between... ☕, a few "have you got five minutes?" conversations that turned into an hour, laughter, random bicci appearances, and at least one person wondering where they've put their notebook (we won't mention names, but there's only one person in the attached photo and no notebook...).

It's busy, it's varied, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Helping young people understand opportunity takes a whole lot of conversations, collaboration and community, and we're lucky to work with some amazing people across the Wimmera Southern Mallee. 💚

💙 Our mates from Deakin University's FutureMe program are heading back to the Wimmera! 😊

This time they'll be in Horsham, and, as always, we've put our hand up to help find some incredible local people to spend time with the students.

We're looking for volunteers who can spare just 1.5 hours to chat with a small group of young people about their career journey.

No speeches. No PowerPoint. No pressure. No preparation.

Just honest conversations about where you've been, what you've learned, the twists and turns along the way, and helping students put what they've learned through FutureMe into practice while building a little more confidence.

We don't care what industry you're in or if you're retired. Every career story is different, and that's exactly what makes them valuable.

All you need is:
✔️ A current Working with Children Check
✔️ Willingness to complete Deakin's volunteer assessment
✔️ A passion for encouraging young people.

If you've got 90 minutes to spare and want to make a genuine difference, we'd love to hear from you.

Drop us a message or email [email protected]. We'll put you in touch with the crew.

We love bringing great people together, and working alongside the FutureMe team is one of our favourite ways to do it.

WSMLLEN – Understanding opportunity is what we do. Helping young people find theirs is why we exist.
