Sometimes the smallest moments make the biggest difference. 💙

While attending a Rugby 7’s event, officers helped an orphaned kangaroo joey get the care it needed after members of the community rescued it and approached police for help contacting a local wildlife carer.

One very grateful little joey, now in safe hands. 🦘

Don't forget! The AusAlert national test is happening today at 2pm ⏰❗️

We’re testing Australia’s new national warning system, AusAlert, across Australia tomorrow as part of the AusAlert national test.

⏰ Set a reminder for 5 minutes before the test time in your location so you are prepared in case you receive it.

The national test will be sent to all compatible mobile devices in Australia, which includes most mobile phones, some smart watches and some tablets. Apple iPads don’t receive AusAlerts.

See the test time in your location below:
🟢 Australian Capital Territory – 2pm AEST
🟡 New South Wales – 2pm AEST
🟢 Queensland – 2pm AEST
🟡 Tasmania – 2pm AEST
🟢 Victoria – 2pm AEST
🟡 Northern Territory – 1.30pm ACST
🟢 South Australia (including Broken Hill, NSW) – 1.30pm ACST
🟡 Western Australia – 12pm AWST
🟢 Christmas Island – 11am CXT.

📱 The test will be a Critical Alert. Your device will vibrate and play a loud siren-like sound for around 10 seconds before stopping, even if it is on ‘silent’ or 'do not disturb'. The message will clearly identify itself as a test and no action is required. If you don’t receive the AusAlert national test, this is fine too, as it’s just a test.

Graduation marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.

Congratulations to our newest constables who have graduated from our North Queensland academy in Townsville.

Of this cohort, 19 will be deployed across the northern region, where they’ll begin serving and supporting our local communities.💙

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of retired Police Dog (PD) Mace.

PD Mace served the Queensland Police Service (QPS) with unwavering dedication as a general-purpose dog in the Townsville District for eight and a half years. His career saw him travel far and wide, from Palm Island through to Mackay, Pormpuraaw and Aurukun. PD Mace also starred in the QPS Dog Squad Calendar and was awarded a Police Dog Service Medal for 5+ years of service.

He retired in 2023 at the ripe old age of 10, taking on a new role of ‘Head of Security’ at home with his handler, Sergeant Hester and his family.

Thank you for your unwavering loyalty and service, Mace. You'll be missed. 🐾💙
