Inglewood Fire Brigade would like to sincerely thank the Inglewood & District Community Enterprise for their generous grant, made possible through the support of the Inglewood Community Bank branch.

Thanks to this funding, we have recently been able to install external security cameras at our station, helping to improve the security of our facilities, vehicles and equipment.

Projects like this wouldn’t be possible without organisations that reinvest back into the communities they serve. We are incredibly grateful for the support and commitment shown by the Inglewood and District Community Bank branch.

Thank you for helping us protect what protects our community. 🚒❤️

We are training at the Inglewood Sports Centre tonight. You will see flashing lights, hear pumps and sirens, and see our hardworking volunteers brushing up on essential skills for structural firefighting.

Following our recent recruitment drive, we welcomed a group of eager applicants from Carshalton House in Bendigo to Inglewood Fire Brigade for a station tour and a look at brigade life.

Lieutenant Craig Miller generously gave up his time to show the group around the station, answer questions, and provide an insight into the role of a volunteer firefighter.

While there was plenty of enthusiasm on display, regrettably none of the applicants were able to secure a position on the truck this time around. We suspect concerns were raised during the fitness assessment, and a number of candidates appeared more interested in discussing afternoon tea arrangements than hose drills.

Thank you to everyone from Carshalton House for visiting. We hope you enjoyed the tour as much as we enjoyed having you at the station.

The following report has been provided by one of our members Rebekah Maxwell, reflecting on her experiences at the recent CFA Cadet Camp held from 22–24 May. The camp provided cadets with the opportunity to develop new skills, participate in hands-on activities, and connect with other young people from across the CFA.

On the 22nd–24th of May, I went to the CFA Cadets Camp. We did a range of things like having a bonfire, learnt how to use a SimTable, and went to VEMTEC. The whole weekend was a good way to learn more things and skills to use on the fireground, and it was a good opportunity to meet new people.

My favourite thing that I had done was going to VEMTEC, mainly the search and rescue drill to find mannequins and make sure they are safe from the “house fire”, and the gas pads where they had multiple drills of a car fire, truck fire, and a range of other things.

Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend it.

Today our brigade attended a tragic incident that resulted in the loss of a life. Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and all those affected during this incredibly difficult time.

It hasn’t gone unnoticed how quickly photos, videos and commentary began circulating on social media. While some may feel they are helping spread awareness, we want to gently remind our community that these situations involve REAL people, REAL families, and REAL trauma, far beyond what can be seen through a screen.

Scenes like this are not content. They are confronting, distressing, and deeply personal for those involved, including emergency personnel who are tasked with attending, managing, and carrying the weight of these incidents long after they leave the scene.

We are incredibly disappointed to see footage and speculation being shared so freely. Not everything needs to be posted, and not everything should be. Families should never be at risk of learning about a loved one through a Facebook post or community page.

We acknowledge that people often post with good intentions, wanting to inform others or check on loved ones. However, this is exactly why tools like the VicEmergency app exist, to provide timely, accurate updates without compromising dignity, privacy, or respect.

Moments like these should bring out the best in a community, not fuel rumours or turn tragedy into something to be shared and discussed online.

We understand the world we live in, but as a community, we can and should do better. Show respect. Think before posting. And please, allow those affected the privacy and compassion they deserve.

Today we attended a fire that started from hot ashes being disposed of incorrectly.

Even when they look cool, ashes can stay hot for days and can easily reignite - especially with a bit of wind.

🚫 Don’t put ashes in bins, rubbish piles, or on the ground.
✅ Let them cool for several days, store in a metal container, and douse with water.
