Becoming Better Together.

When students run across the playground to say hello, Kelly knows she's exactly where she's meant to be. ๐Ÿซ

For 18 years, Kelly has supported students as a teacher aide at Raceview State School in Ipswich, building relationships that last long after the school day ends.

Beyond the classroom, she's also making a difference through her tireless work with HeartKids - QLD. โค๏ธ

'Working with children is something I always wanted to do,' Kelly said.

After seven years in childcare and raising four children of her own, Kelly began volunteering at school through the P&C and in classrooms before securing a permanent teacher aide position.

For Kelly, the most rewarding part of the role is the connections she forms with students, and watching them learn and grow over the years.

'It's seeing the excitement on their faces when they see you in the morning and run over to say hello,' she said.

'Or when they sit and talk to you about life because you're the one person they trust.'

Kelly's passion for helping others extends far beyond the school gates.

Recognised as a community hero at this year's Brisbane Festival for her work with HeartKids, she organises fundraising events, raises awareness and inspires her school community to support families affected by childhood-onset heart disease.

Her connection to the cause is deeply personal. Kelly's nephew is a HeartKid who has undergone multiple open-heart surgeries, and her late sister, Nikki, received support from HeartKids while caring for her young family.

'Nikki was so grateful for everything HeartKids did for our family,' Kelly said.

'I do everything in her memory.'

Whether she's supporting a student, leading a fundraiser or helping bring joy to children spending Christmas in hospital, Kelly is guided by a simple belief.

'If you're in a position to help others, then do it. It doesn't cost anything to be kind.'

Teacher aides like Kelly make a lasting difference in the lives of students, families and communities. Thank you for everything you do. โค๏ธ

We'd like to thank the Mayor Teresa Harding for visiting our Year 6 students this week.
The Mayor answered the students questions relating to their English and HASS learning this term and helped to connect the classroom to the real-life.

We've had a great Book Week in 2026
Thank you to our P&C Raceview State School - P&C Association who kindly supported with resources to help make our week more hands on and fun!
Thank you to Mr Paul-Brent from Bremer State High School who came (in costume!) to our parade Thursday and helped our school captions, Mr Howden and Mr Jordan with handing out our reading awards.
Thank you to our parents and families who helped our students look amazing yesterday at the parade. We acknowledge a lot of effort goes into these.
Lastly, thank you to our staff who support our kids with reading and a love of books every day. We've loved seeing the 'book themed' doors around the school, as well as some in-progress photos.
