Ubirr has reopened to visitors following a temporary closure due to fire activity in the area.

Visitors can once again explore this iconic Kakadu landscape, experience its ancient rock art and take in the spectacular views.

Please continue to check the Kakadu Access Report (link in comments) before travelling for the latest updates and remember to stay safe, follow signage and respect this culturally significant place.

Ubirr is temporarily closed to visitors due to unplanned fire activity in the area.

The site will be closed for a few hours to protect the safety of visitors and staff, as crews work to contain the fire.

All other areas of Kakadu National Park remain open, and visitors can continue to experience the park’s many incredible landscapes, wildlife and cultural sites.

A further update will be provided when Ubirr reopens. Please check the Kakadu Access Report (link in the comments) before travelling for the latest updates on visitor site access and conditions.

H5 bird flu has arrived in some parts of Australia. With Kakadu’s wetlands supporting an incredible diversity of bird species and wildlife, visitor and community awareness is an important part of preparing for H5 bird flu.

A new video featuring Kylie Lindner, Kakadu Park Manager, shares the signs to look for and what to do if you encounter sick or dead birds or other animals, and advice for the Bininj/Mungguy community.

Maguk is officially open and ready to explore. 🎉

Surrounded by monsoon forest and dramatic sandstone cliffs, Maguk is the perfect place to experience the beauty of Kakadu. 💚

🌿 Two of Kakadu’s favourite visitor experiences are ready to welcome visitors back, with Maguk and Four Mile Hole Billabong now open. 🙌

🚗 Four Mile Hole Billabong is now accessible via Two Mile Hole Road, with traffic management in place. Traffic management will also be in place along the road to Maguk to support safe access.

⚠️ Please follow all signage and directions while travelling through these areas.

🐊 As always, please remember to Be Crocwise when exploring Kakadu. Stay alert around waterways, follow safety signage, and never enter closed areas.

🥾 Take a walk through Kakadu’s Stone Country

Bardedjilidji is a short walk with plenty to discover along the way. 🌿

Winding through layered sandstone formations and woodlands near the East Alligator River, the 2.5 km loop takes you through some of Kakadu’s most striking landscapes.

Keep an eye out for the remarkable shapes and textures carved into the sandstone over millions of years, and take your time exploring the changing habitats along the way. 🧡

Allow around two hours to complete the walk, and remember to carry plenty of water, wear sturdy shoes and Be Crocwise around waterways.

Bilkbilkmi (Graveside Gorge) has reopened for visitors today, offering the chance to experience its dramatic sandstone gorge, monsoon forest and cascading waterfalls. 🏞️

Access is 4WD only, with the gorge a challenging 4 km walk from the car park.

Please plan ahead, carry plenty of water and always follow safety signage while exploring Kakadu.

A permit is required for overnight bushwalking and camping. Please contact [email protected] for more information.

We totally understand that it's easy to spend your whole visit looking at the rock art on your walk around Burrungkuy (Nourlangie)!

But every now and then, it's worth looking out across the landscape too. The sandstone cliffs, open woodlands and changing light are all part of what makes Burrungkuy such a special place to explore. 🌿
