Good governance isn’t just paperwork — it’s what helps community groups survive and thrive.

Northern Areas Council, in partnership with KPPM Strategy, is offering local community organisations the opportunity to strengthen their governance and committee skills through a practical workshop with Dr Kristine Peters.

Strong governance can help community groups make clearer decisions, reduce volunteer burnout, support smoother committee handovers and build confidence when applying for grants.

The session will cover the practical essentials every committee needs, including:
🔹 Understanding roles and responsibilities
🔹 Managing risk and compliance
🔹 Running effective meetings
🔹 Planning for succession

There will be time to discuss group challenges and identify practical solutions.

Come along, build your governance confidence and help your community group thrive.

Halfway. Celebrate the total so far. If you've started, finish. If you haven't, one hour this week is all it takes.

The tally this morning:

• Clare Valley: 2 entered
• Yorke Peninsula: 29 entered
• Southern Flinders Ranges: 3 entered

Story Sprint tally: 34 entered and climbing, with 2 Days and 8 hours left on the ticker.

Yorke Peninsula has bolted out of the gates, with a huge helping hand from Nicole at Country Getaways, who has been sharing some brilliant stories, places and local gems from across the region.

And some of the stories coming through beautifully capture the people behind our region’s visitor experiences. Alison “Chook” Meaney from - Bukirk Glamping & Luxury Cabins in Clare Valley shared: “The best part for me is welcoming people here, seeing their reaction when they arrive and knowing I’ve created somewhere they genuinely want to come back to.” It’s a simple sentiment, but one that says so much about the warmth, pride and personal connection behind tourism in our region.

Every story is worth telling, nothing is mandatory, and you can submit at any point. Make your story count and tell us something we don’t already know.

Get counted. Get told.
