R U OK? Day is all about connection and support – simple conversations can make a big difference. So, let's come together in our comfiest pyjamas, spread kindness, and keep the conversation going. Remember, a little care can go a long way!

🦜 Week 7 in the Galahs! 🦜
What a wonderful week of learning, laughter and friendship! 💛
Our highlight of the week was sharing a special breakfast with our amazing Dads, Grandads, Uncles and other special people. 🥰 We’ve also been busy creating some Father’s Day surprises, so a huge Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads and father figures in our Galahs’ lives! 💙
📚 In English, we’ve been exploring alternative spellings for the /f/ sound, building our phonemic awareness and becoming more fluent, expressive and confident readers. We’ve also been getting our brains very sweaty learning about compound and complex sentences! 🧠✏️
🔢 In Maths, we’ve been strengthening our number facts to 10 and 20 and measuring and comparing length using informal units and metres.
🌿 In Science, we explored the Awabakal seasonal calendar, discovering the special plants and animals connected to each season. In History, we continued learning about Aboriginal tools and artefacts.
Another fantastic week of learning, playing and growing together! 🌟

✨ Maths, challenges and fun!
Eight of our Opportunity Class students competed in the Regional North OC MathsClash at Merewether High School, tackling puzzles, Speed Maths and Escape Rooms. 🧠💡

🏆 Congratulations to one team for an amazing 4th place overall!
👏 Special shout-out to Parker for excelling in the Rubik’s Cube and Pi Challenge!
We’re so proud of all eight students!

Congratulations to Gianna who has been selected to join the Hunter/Central Coast Debating Team. The team will compete at the State Championships later this year.
Only 5 students are selected from the very large region so this is an extraordinary achievement that we are all so proud of.
She may be small but she is mighty!

It’s a busy week ahead at Jewells Primary School 🌟

We can’t wait to see everyone at our special Father’s Day Breakfast. All dads, carers and father figures are invited to join us for a morning BBQ breakfast and great company – let’s celebrate the wonderful role you play in our school community!

Plus, we’ve got the Zone Public Speaking event and our P&C meeting happening this week. Lots to look forward to!

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Regional Athletics Carnival 🏅

A huge congratulations to Dom and Maddy on their fantastic efforts at the Regional Athletics Carnival! 🎉👏

🌟 Dom had an outstanding day, placing 2nd and 3rd in his running events! What an incredible achievement! 🥈🥉

🌟 Maddy gave it her all and represented our school with determination, enthusiasm and a fantastic attitude. We are so proud of the effort she put in! 💪💙

Both students should be incredibly proud of themselves for making it to Regionals and giving their very best on the day.

A Glance Into Our Week - Kangaroos
English:
In English, we've been learning about compound sentences. We're identifying and writing our own with subjects, verbs and a conjunction. We're also finding connections between ourselves and characters in stories that we're reading.

Science
In Science, we have been learning about the needs of animals, and how they design and build their homes to meet their needs. We have even been building our own homes for Blue Banded Bees!

History
In History, we have been discussing personal histories, including objects and celebrations from our past. We learned about objects that Aboriginal people have used in the past and still today, like clapping sticks. Here we are keeping a rhythm with our clapping sticks.

We are loving learning in Kindergarten. We are kind, clever and creative Kangaroos on the downhill run to year one!
