Thanks to the team who responded yesterday to help a stranded couple on the Thredbo River. 🏞
Hubby and wife were out fishing when they experienced an electrical engine fire, they put the fire out with their extinguisher and sent a call for assistance. Both had life jackets on and were well equipped for their outing. 🧯
MR crew assisted with a tow and getting their boat back on their trailer as the engine could not be started. 🚤
They are to be commended for their preparedness in having all the right safety gear. Well Done guys! ✅️

⛵️With large numbers of boaters expected to take to the Alpine Lakes — Jindabyne and Eucumbene — and the Murray River around Moama this holiday season, Marine Rescue NSW is urging everyone heading out on the water to prioritise safety and preparation.

Marine Rescue NSW Inspector Glenn Sullivan said that too many emergencies stem from issues that can be prevented with simple checks before leaving the shore. “Engine and battery failures, and running out of fuel, make up more than half of the incidents we respond to on inland waterways,” he said.

"These are avoidable situations. Better planning and preparation would prevent many call-outs.”

Inspector Sullivan said skippers should thoroughly check their vessel, fuel and safety gear before departure, and remain vigilant once on the water. “Conditions can change quickly. Assess, prepare and monitor — every time you head out,” he said.

Stay safe and Happy boating..! ⛵️🚤🛥

A call out yesterday on Lake Eucumbene for 2 Kayakers unable to get back to shore.
Pretty rough conditions on the lake, a reminder to check reports and incoming weather before heading out to enjoy water activities.
Thanks to the team that went to assist to get the guys safely back to land. 🚣‍♂️🌊

Last weekend Monaro Police District, working closely with the Marine Rescue NSW Alpine Lakes, NSW State Emergency Service and NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, led the multi-agency Operation on Lakes Eucumbene and Jindabyne.
The joint operation is aimed at improving safety on our waterways, bringing teams together and building cross agency relationships.
They endured the currently challenging weather conditions to successfully conduct several search and rescue scenarios.
Thanks everyone for your dedication, time and efforts!
