Snowy Youth Council

Snowy Youth Council Espy is Snowy River Shire's youth representative body. Membership is open to anyone aged 12 -18 living, working or playing in Snowy Shire.

We run a range of activities, and represent the needs of young people in local, state and federal politics. The 2010 youth week planning committee spent a solid hour mulling over the name of their website. We wanted something short, punchy, maybe just a little bit quirky, but also something with meaning. To 'espy' is 'to catch sight of'; 'to take notice'; 'to see'. Our youth see possibility, they

see potential in themselves, their community, and their stunning natural environment. Young people have vision, and want to turn their visions into reality. That’s what Espy, and the Snow River Shire Youth Council, are for: to empower young people. To give them a voice in decision-making; to plan events, workshops, and courses of interest and meaning. Espy.org.au is about a shared belief in youth capacity–amoung young people, our community, and our Council. Let’s see what we can do together.
