We had a callout last night for an escaped burn that ran up into a tree - a good opportunity to try out the water cannon on the new Tatra 4.4 appliance! The home owner was quick to raise the alarm which meant we were able to put out the fire before it spread.

It's great being in the company of like-minded people, through volunteering with the Brigade you can make a real difference in the community.
Image below: Christmas Day 2013, patrolling in the days following the Julimar fire my first opportunity to briefly return home for lunch. At the end of the day, we were warmly greeted at the station by a community member who had baked a Christmas cake that very day, in appreciation of the Brigade’s efforts over the preceding days.

🌱 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰𝒏𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝑴𝒆
My involvement began when my partner joined our local Brigade after we moved to Julimar. A couple of years later, the Brigade needed a Secretary, and I stepped into the role, drawing on my existing skills. From there, I completed Bushfire Awareness training, initially for personal knowledge, given we live in a fire‑prone area. Before long, I was asked to help fill a gap on the roster—and soon found myself attending my first fire in the middle of the night. It’s fair to say things progressed quickly from there!

Tonight members of our Brigade had the pleasure of attending the Emergency Services Dinner at the Toodyay Memorial Hall. Thanks to Macca and the Emergency Services Dinner team for organising a great night! It was also great to see Dale, Wes and Rueben receive their medals 😀👍🏅

Hello YOU, is it YOUR year to volunteer?!

Toodyay residents have loads of options, everyone has a local station… and remember not everyone needs to be an active firefighter, there’s so much more to a Brigade than ‘putting wet stuff on the hot stuff’.

Our Brigade members were thrilled to attend the Lions Sundowner at Coorinja Winery. What a lovely evening 😊. Many thanks to the Toodyay Lions and the Toodyay CWA for looking for looking after us!
